Located downtown near the University of Alabama-Birmingham and its medical center, the Fish Market is the cheapest and possibly the best seafood restaurant in Birmingham. The owners are from Greece, so the self-service dining area is decorated with Greek photos and artwork. There is a small grocery area and of course, a fish market. The food is fresh, and the portions large. Be prepared for a crowd at any given time; this place is an unbeatable value and that's a well-known fact.

Called a order in to the fish market to get my usual which is a grilled seafood platter. Upon cutting in one of my oysters I noticed black stuff oozing out. I called and talked to a manager named Kelly to voice my displeasure and she basically brushed me off and told me next time to check my food before I leave. I didn't want to bring it back because they were busy and I didn't want to cause a scene but Kelly didn't try to satisfy me whatsoever. Very poor customer service
The food was cold . And my order was wrong !!! And then they told me the kitchen was closing. sorry Charlie big disappointed.
Normally service is fast and food is awesome. Yesterday was not so good. Had to wait a while for food. Waiter insisted on treating my son and me to desert. Seems we got there in the middle of shift change.
