The Bookstore Speakeasy is your portal to the 1920s. Behind a nondescript black door bearing only the words "The Bookstore," is a lively bar that hosts a jazz band several nights a week. The decor is in keeping with the theme, featuring vintage accents. Creatively mixed drinks are named with just as much imagination (try the Shirley Temple of Doom).

Called 4 days ahead of time to make reservations & was told to call back on the day we wanted in since it was only a party of 4. Called back the day before & left a detailed message as the greeting instructs about making reservations. Never received a confirmation so called a third time on the desired day & was informed they were booked & that they never received the voicemail. Very disappointed & frustrated! Never heard of a business refusing to take reservations a couple days in advance. It's no surprise they need Groupon ... read more

Fun, intimate atmosphere with funny and attentive staff. The food is amazing and unique, I recommend the pirogies, and the drinks are one of a kind and delicious! If you get the chance to experience the live music you should! Thursday through Saturday. Shout out to Neil and Max! Thank you for an amazing first night at The Bookstore!
On Sat. Oct. 24th my wife and I had her birthday reservations for dinner with you and joining us were 7 friends. When we arrived we were told our reservation were not in the books. After some "bickering" Matthew the manager come to the rescue. Even though it was a bit of a delay from our original RESERVATION, we were still all seated and personally served by Matthew. The atmosphere, food and service were EXCELLENT. Thanks for the great save Matthew. Also, we'd like to thank Asia the hostess for doing a great job being thrown... read more

This was our first experience at this establishment. First, we drove past it three times, then finally found it. We didn't have reservations, and it was a Friday night, but they gave us a table that was reserved but not for another hour. Very nice of them to squeeze us in. Place was interesting, front hostess was nice... then there was our waitress... not attentive, and waited 20 minutes to get our check only to find out she had added almost $30 for drinks on our bill, when we had no drinks. Food was good, though portions we... read more
Great food, great atmosphere.
If you were to go to the Bookstore on Tues or Wed nights the waitress (Jenay) is AWESOME and absolutely on the ball... I was blown away with the service and great conversation. The cocktails are unique and the food is fresh and soooo delicious. Do yourself a favor and go there (on Tues or Wed)… I'm from NYC and will definitely come back.
Love this place! Excellent drinks, great food, classy atmosphere, and superb staff! I suggest this place to anyone looking for a great low lit place for a good meal or better drinks.
