TRTA influences state legislators for the best interests of retired educators. Tim Lee and others work diligently to keep retirees informed about decisions at the state level that affect our well-being. Regardless of political affiliation, we should be concerned about the decisions made by state legislators. Right now, Texas leadership is influenced by anti-public school interests, and the attitude spills over and affects public ed retirees. I recommend that every retired teacher join their local Retired Teacher Association and the state TRTA. Each of their local units are busily engaged in finding legislators who support retired teacher issues...and there are many issues this election years. JOIN TRTA! Yes, I am a retired teacher and have been a member since 2001. :)

TRTA works daily and diligently to support the retired teachers in Texas. Thanks to all the staff and an especial thanks to our executive director Tim Lee. I cannot imagine what legislation TX teachers might be facing if it were not for this group that fights for us. We must support their efforts by VOTING and by encouraging other educators to vote as well as our family members and friends.
