At one time I thought TRTA had the teachers best interest at heart, but they don't anymore... Doubling monthly premiums and allowing Ameritas Insurance to charge a monthly premium and have to pay a membership fee to keep it. Never consider cost of living and no raises... So, who cares about retired teachers... I truly don't know.

I went to this organization with a very difficult problem, and one I knew would be a challenge to reconcile. I was assured by someone who works there, on several occasions, that they would do whatever they could to help us. After many phone calls and emails, the basic promise of keeping me updated was not met. After I pointed this out to the person handling my request, I was told that I was right and that "I deserved better." Well, better never happened. Same avoiding communication and as far as I can tell, because of the la... read more

TRTA works tirelessly for for educators of Texas! No, I’m not fond is HUMANA because their payment to doctors are too low, as are MEDICARE payments. But I’m pleased that teachers had at least one option for a TRS supported Insurance Supplement. If this is not successful we will have NOTHING but MEDICARE. That would not make me happy either. But TRTA IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE VOICE OF EDUCATORS. Thank you TRTA!

I am grateful for every effort made by TRTA in behalf of retirees. We must have individuals in the Texas Legislature who support public education and educators.

I am a retired Texas teacher with 41 years serving the children of this state . I'm proud of the lives I've touched . I am not proud of the Humana ins we were forced to take . Yes I could drop it ( not EVER being allowed to return ) but I've worked 41 yrs and expect more from the system I depend on to take care of me as their retiree . Humana ins has high premium and low pay out .. my husband and I have already paid $1,200. since Jan.1 to our primary care physicians and plus the $524. mo premium plus large amts for drugs pre... read more

Why did my wife's ins go up so much? Not fair. I taught 48 years and retired with good insurance for myself and wife. What happened?

Fighting for us. UPS retirees lost one third of their pensions last year. My niece is one of them. This is state-sanctioned robbery.
