Dr. Hughes is an expert in the spine surgery. In 2014 he operated on one of my herniated disc, and a few days later I was free of pain and "0" limitation with my activities. This month I am back with Dr. Hughes as I was wanted a second advice for new back issues. Results are two areas with nerve pinched. I would not let anyone else to make any diagnosis and treat my spine. I highly recommend Dr Hughes.

Dr. Hughes is currently working through a myriad of spinal conditions and issues with me. He is attentive and understanding of my immediate and long term concerns. He is very knowledgeable and presents information in an easily understood manner.
Having had a laminectomy 35 years ago and living with the chronic pain I experienced after that, another spinal surgery was the last thing I wanted. However, excruciating pain that prevented me from walking, sitting or standing kept me bedridden for three months. Dr. Hughes has treated me on and off for about 15 years. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. He treats me like a person and explains things in ways easy to understand. Surgeries he’s performed on my spine always fixed the excruciating problems. I just love him!
Dr. Hughes has made it possible for me to continue an active life after spine surgery, before surgery I was intense pain. Dr. Hughes and his staff are the best!
I was very impressed with the offices protocol for cover-19 practices before and after I entered the office. All the staff explained everything that was going to go on during the visit. Dr. Hughes went over the tests and results that I had prior to my visit in an easy to understand manner. He gave me time to ask questions and his answers were clear and not condescending. Everything I needed was for treatment going forward was reading before I left. It was a very pleasent experience!
It was a quick and “to the point” appointment which I truly appreciated. Instead of Dr Hughes putting me on more meds, he decided to get a scan done to look at the exact issues. Exactly what I needed as I was tired of my previous orthopedic having me go through meds and PT knowing that none of that working and I kept insisting that they need to first look at the issue via MRI. Definitely recommend Dr Hughes and OrthoVirginia!!
