This is great resort on the east coast. The renovations look great. The glass bottom pool is very cool and the beach is beautiful. Always enjoy our stay here. The one downside on this trip was that the outside renovation isn't finished and they had our balcony locked off.
What a horrible experience my wife and I had. Had to wait two hours in line just to get a wrist band so we could get into the pool area (because our room was not ready yet.) we were setup on having the room key on our phones, but it would not connect so then we had to go and wait in line again for another 40 minutes to get our room key. To start, We are Hilton Honors members. We prefer to stay on those properties. So when I was figuring out where we should go this Memorial Day, we chose the Diplomat. From booking with an agent on the phone and calling during day that our room was ready we were super excited to spend my son's 8th birthday here! Went for a family vacation, the food is over priced and the staff is rude. And to top it off they assigned one of our rooms to someone else. So random ppl walked in on us.
Horrible.... but I guess from reading the other reviews I am not alone. What a difference from being a Starwood Property. They should have called it the Holiday Inn Diplomat, but Holiday Inn has better service. Way under staffed and rude and indifferent staff, when you could find them. 1:15 to check in and get a beach chair. Room not ready even close to on time. Will never be back. Its a shame because it's a beautiful property that has been wrecked by Hilton.
We live locally and have been coming to this property for years as a special treat for a few weekends a year. Well no and no more Hilton after this experience. What a total dump compared to how this beautiful resort used to be when run by Starwood. Worst service we have had in years. Long lines for check in, no pool side chairs, beach chairs back by the wall, and had to fight to check in over a hour late after waiting all day. All I can say it was ok. Over priced on everything!!! And once we got there they wanted to give us a room we did not pay for. We had paid for a much larger room. So we went down stairs and told the person at the front desk the room was super dusty due to the fact they are sealing their balconies and windows but they don't tell you. So I said I am going home if I don't get what I have paid for. Finally they gave us a clean room. The lady from house keeping was the only good thing I liked.
