About this business

As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. Fabulous food and service. Love the restaurant decor, as well. Fun, hip place in a cool neighborhood. A must visit for everyone when in NOLA.

Everything was amazing. My only complaint is that the shakshuka's eggs were cooked all the way through, not poached as they should be. Next time, I'm going to request they not cook the egg through. The Smudge is a delightful and refreshing gin cocktail. Can't wait to go back!

Wow! What an incredible meal! I was excited to taste the baba ganoush and was not disappointed from the first bite! I wish I lived in New Orleans so I could visit Shaya often but I live in Missouri. Shaya will be in my 'must visit' list on any future trips to the area. I'm truly envious of those who can regularly enjoy such delightful food. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing Israeli food. The cauliflower humus is the best I have ever had in my life. Every dish we ordered was so well seasoned and interesting in taste. The bread is to die for, they have a special brick oven where they make it. Cocktails are very interesting too! Would recommend to anyone that likes to try new foods.
