As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. The food was amazing! Our first time there and it won’t be our last!
One of the best spots we went to on a short trip to New Orleans. The great food, our hot waiter (who had an amazing amount of patience to deal with our group), and the drinks...everything was perfect.
Excellent food and atmosphere. We will definitely go back!
Great service and some of the best food I've ever had! The pita bread and dips were phenominal (we got the heirloom tomatoes & pesto aoli, shishito peppers, and roasted red pepper), and the chicken schnitzel sandwich was amazing. Their drinks are great, too. Plus the decor and atmosphere were very charming. I highly recommend this place!
Loved this restaurant. Great options for vegetarians. The falafel was amazing but the cauliflower hummus was outstanding. Great vibe and yummy drinks.
Great experience overall! The Kafta and Falafel were amazing! Beautiful patio tucked away in the back. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the Moroccan mint tea that we wanted to finish the meal with was a total letdown. That is definitely not traditional mint tea and it wasn't really drinkable. Sour and strong, I've never seen "mint tea" made with lemon, barely any mint and no sugar. Other than that it was delicious. Would try again.
Very good and very reasonably priced. Sunny patio in the back...
I can’t express enough how fantastic this restaurant is. Such a unique cuisine to offer to New Orleans and they take it to the top with respect to authenticity and flavor!!! The staff is the best with offering suggestions on food AND cocktails. Enjoy New Orleans; I have to every time I visit!!!
