Dr. Bess is an outstanding surgeon. He's not aggressive at all and shared all of my options starting off with pain injections. I called his office for a followup appointment and learned that he is no longer at PSL and they tried to change my provider to someone else. I am NOT going to another provider. He has new contact info on his website www.shaybess.com. I am going to see where he establishes a new practice and follow him there.
Dr. Bess is likely the most ethical, honest, and talented complex spine surgeon in the state of Colorado. He did surgery on my 71 year old mother to correct her debilitating scoliosis earlier this fall. My mother who was stuck in a wheel chair before her surgery for 3 years is now (after surgery) walking 2 miles a day!!! My mother and our family are forever grateful to Dr. Shay Bess. We highly recommend him as he’s honest and compassionate.

Dr. Bess did a acdf 4 levels in my neck. Surgery went great had a setback in recovery which has all but healed. Dr. Bess checked on me personally 5 tines a week. The P.A.s checked on me as well. A truly compassionate surgeon that listens and answered everything I asked of him. His office staff are overall excellent. I'd recommend a different way of handling calls but I also have no idea how many incoming calls they get. I'd go there again without hesitation.
I am so grateful for Dr. Bess. 5 months ago, he performed a spinal fusion and replaced the associated discs (L4,L5,S1). I had been in excruciating, debilitating pain for years. I could not stand for longer than a couple minutes. I couldn't sit on the floor to play with my kids. I couldn't sleep well. I was taking 4-5 muscle relaxers EVERY day for years in addition to doing all sorts of injections, nerve ablations, etc. I also had tried PT and chiropractic care. Nothing helped at all. Dr. Bess is someone I absolutely trust with my life. He is thorough, kind and caring. He takes the time to explain things and makes sure I am comfortable.

I doubt you can find a better Orthopedic Spine Surgeon then Dr. Shay Bess. Being on staff at PSL I asked other staff about Dr. Shay Bess. They agreed that they would trust him to treat them without question. I met many of Dr. Bess patients, they all agreed he was the right person to fix their medical condition. I look forward to my yearly follow-up to see what he thinks about my current medical condition.

Dr. Bess really listens well but overall my appointments wasted my time. First, I met with PA Madison. She asked me many questions that I had already answered on their extensive forms. Madison didn't seem to have the forms in front of her, so when she asked me specific questions, all I could answer was "Yes, I've had those procedures performed.
