I really love this place. I have not been to the new location yet, but from the outside, it looks like a real upgrade. I am excited to try it. This is the only place i go for haircuts because of the location and how I feel when i leave. Every time I walk out of the salon, I feel as though the stylists really listened to what i wanted. If they have suggestions, they make them, sometimes i change my mind, sometimes i don't. But either way, i am glad that they are offering their expertise. I have had my hair cut by both a senio... read more
Absolutely love this place! For the first time in a loooonnnngggg time I found someone that actually gave me the look I was going for. Jessica was amazing!!! So attentive and professional! The other staff members are very friendly and nice; everyone makes you feel right at home! Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely continue to go back! I absolutely love Shampoo Ave B!!! Looking forward to my next appointment!
Absolutely the BEST!!! I have been getting my hair colored and highlighted for years at various places in NYC - I have tried so many places as I had never found a salon or stylist who did a great job with a reasonable price (I get a full head of highlights with some low lights to look like full coverage color but that grows out well - it's time intensive and normally very, very expensive) Then I found Shampoo Ave B and more importantly Aut -the most awesome (and funny) stylist ever! I have been to her about 15 times now and a... read more
I've been here a few times now, so this review is a bit overdue. I moved to NYC from LA, and was looking for a new hair salon, so based on the great Yelp reviews, I bought a Lifebooker deal for Shampoo Avenue B. The first time, I came in for a Brazilian Blowout. They did a great job, and it definitely lived up to what I'm used to (smoothed my hair, lasted 3+ months, etc). Since I don't trust anyone with haircuts, during my first year here, I just waited to get them when I went home to LA. Since I was in desperate need of a h... read more
I love Shampoo Ave B!! I've been going there for years now, mainly for cuts and Brazilian blowouts, and recently for color. I'm super busy (as we New Yorkers all are) and sometimes I cant make it to an appointment until 8-10weeks after my last one- but the cut grows out so well that it's OK! I don't look like a mess. My stylist Sylyse is really talented and honest - he tells you what will work and what wont work for your hair. Recently I asked for an ombre, with my dark virgin hair Sylyse talked me out of this severe color t... read more
When I moved to Brooklyn six months ago, I had been avoiding hair salons for fear of bad services and being made to feel inadequate (I'm very much like Andy in The Devil Wears Prada.) I found Shampoo Avenue B on Yelp and set up a free consultation with the owner, Carlos. Carols put me at ease and took a lot of time to discuss ideas and listen to what I wanted while giving me expert advice. In December, I came in for half highlights and cut services. Everyone treated me with kindness from the moment I walked in. Bree gave me ... read more
Emily gave me the best haircut I've had in NYC! She was able to cut my hair just the way I wanted and gave me some good tips for styling my hair in different ways. The people at Shampoo Avenue B are really friendly and I like that customers can make appointments online. (I also like that they have a discount for students!) Even though this salon is not in my neighborhood, it is definitely my new go-to spot!
For the past six years, I've restlessly bounced from salon to salon searching for a place that could finally get my hair "right." Luckily, I discovered Shampoo Ave B, and I have never been happier! I've seen multiple stylists there, and each has been just as talented and kind as the last. In fact, before I went on a 6-month trip to Asia, I headed to them in a bit of a panic about what to do with my blonde highlights. They did an AMAZING job blending in high and lowlights to ensure the growth would look as natural as possible... read more
I've had my hair cut by Carlos several times and have always been really happy. He takes the time to listen and ask questions so that when you leave, you leave with the haircut you wanted. The salon itself is clean, and the staff is friendly.
