Shampoo Avenue B had been my hair home for years. But...the last time I went there, Carlos not only ignored my request (I even showed him a photo of the cut and color HE gave me and asked him to replicate it), but fried my hair so badly that I needed to go to another salon to try to reverse the damage. THE most unprofessional salon I have ever been to (and I've lived in the city for 35 years). I came in with healthy, shiny hair and left with a head of burnt straw. Not to mention -- they refused to fix it even though I offered to pay (even) more. Oh, and if you think the amazing reviews are "real," you have another thing coming. They offer a discount if you post something wonderful. Don't be fooled!
The only person that understands exactly what i want is Carlos. He works magic with those scissors! I show him a photo of what I want and he executes it. The rest of the staff is also really nice and attentive, always making sure you're hydrated and comfortable.
I started getting my haircut at Shampoo Avenue B by Erik and have to say it is the best haircut I've had in the city yet and I've been living here for close to 10 years. I've tried various upscale salons and have walked away feeling indifferent about the style of the cut after paying an arm and a leg for it. I've been getting my hair highlighted for the past 15 years of my life from various stylists and salons and I have to say that Carlos has done the best job yet. He did my highlights just before my wedding and he did a stellar job and I've been sold ever since. The new salon is is beautifully designed and decorated and is much more spacious then their previous location. I highly recommend Carols at Shampoo Ave B, he is the go-to for blonde highlights!!
Shampoo Avenue B is an awesome NYC salon. Their online booking tool is really handy and makes managing services/appointments easy. I've seen a few stylists for haircuts and every one of them has been fantastic. I also love that they take appointments until late evening, which makes it really convenient during weekdays. Highly recommend!
I was looking to go from red to blonde and my current hairstylist at that time did not know how to remove red (although not admittedly) so I had begun a search for a new hairstylist. Sylyse is the ultimate professional stylist - he is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and it is clear he has had extensive training and experience.
