Lakeside bistro featuring local and sustainable ingredients. Sardine is located in the historic Machinery Row building (est. 1846) on the shores of lake Monona, in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin. Our menu features artisanal cheeses, fresh shellfish and seafood, braised and roasted meats. Bar opens at 4:00 and offers signature drinks, local and imported tap beers and a well-rounded wine list. Saturdays and Sundays brunch is served from 9-2:30.

Brunch was delicious - highly recommended
My absolute favorite place in Madison. Everything is wonderful from the best Bloody Marys in town to the most decadent Chocolate Croissants outside of France.♥️
Food, service, and atmosphere wonderful and we come to Sardine often. My only complaint and it’s minor is that tables in back are to close together and chairs seem rather rickety. This is not helped by the fact my husband is 6’7” but it’s even tight for average people. We ask hot front when we call for reservations. Oysters are best in town!
Make a reservation for brunch. I'm just leaving this here as a reminder for my future self. When you've got a kiddo in tow, if you don't make a reservation, you're stuck with a stool without a back and you constantly need to keep checking to make sure your tiny ninja isn't going to do a backflip off of it onto the ground. Food was great, the pastries stole the show! Get a pastry.

Went here for brunch on a Saturday. While the food was great, the service was pretty terrible. We had a reservation and we're seated promptly. It was over ten minutes before our server spoke to us and started rattling off the specials without so much as a hello. We immediately put in our order. Oysters took 20 minutes to arrive, while the food took nearly an hour. People who had been sat after us were done eating by the time our food had arrived. Bar staff were extremely knowledgeable. Wait staff was exceptional! Sarah Jane was nicely laid back while very attentive. Food was exceptional. My wife has a severe peanut allergy and they were able to make modifications to our meal to avoid any cross contamination! I will return as often as I can!
