The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. We always enjoy having a meal at Ruby's whenever we come out to LA from PA to visit our sons. Nothing extraordinary about it....service/food is good and the view is great. Just a fun place to eat after a nice stroll down the Huntington Beach Boardwalk.
It was much better than I thought. The children loved it and we loved the view. The staff was friendly and the wait short.
Very disappointed with service :( Not in order but, had to wait to get our order taken and for each part of our meal and requests. We asked for a water refill 4 times, the share plate was dirty, the menu was dirty which left a smear on table. I ordered a dessert as my main meal and it came out so much earlier then the rest of the table which meant my ice-cream melted and running down the side of bowl. Thank you for the amazing food and the amazing service! I was in there today with my family and my daughter left her retainer on the table. An amazing manager, Oscar, went through the dumpster and found it for us! I can't thank him enough! We will definitely be back next time we are in California!
Best burger of my life! We aren't the kind of people to photograph our food. .. but it looked so good. .. and tasted even better!
