The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. When my kids & I got inside, I placed my name on the list, The Hostess told me that we should be seated within 5-10 minutes. 25 minutes later, I went inside to see what was going on & gave the hostess my name & my name was crossed off & someone used my name to get seated. But after they realized what happened, my kids & I were seated promptly. Service was good & my kids & I enjoyed the food & the Sunset!

Amazing ambience, great burgers, best apple pie I've ever had.
My son and I went there Sunday night, super excited to have a good experience. However this was not the case... I ordered a grilled cheese with fries and a cup of clam chowder soup. It took forever for our food to come and instead of bringing the soup first they brought everything together and it was all super cold. Even my cup of coffee was luke warm, it was terrible.
