One word...ATROCIOUS! – I don't normally write editorial feedback but this experience was too awful to keep to myself. I attended a dinner for around 20 guests at LuLus. Shut the Doors and Change the Staff! – This has to be by far the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at in San Francisco. It wasn't that the food was bad, it wasn't, but the majority of the staff was extrememly rude. While waiting for our table at the bar, the bartender was too busy speaking to her friends to ask us if we needed anything. Not a fan – Being that Lulu is a well known restaurant in SF I decided to give it a second try. And again I wouldn't rate it anything above average. The food is okay but nothing special. The place is crowded and noisy. It is also just a big restaurant, so it doesn't have an intimate feel. I guess it can be good for big parties but that is about it. I wouldn't go there if you are looking for a real find or an occasion to remember.
Seriously overpriced – Went here after seeing it was in the Chronicle's Top 100. Some of our faves had dropped out, so wanted to see what was so good about some of the other places. We eat out often in SF and were not impressed by the pricing -- the quality was poor for what we paid, fish was overcooked, and who wants to pay $11 for a salad when the waiters wear jeans?! Wish I had read recent reviews, DON'T GO! – CitySearch should re-evaluate their rating if they give this place a 9.0!!! We had 6 in our party which is not overwhelming. @e will not be going back based on our experience!!! We had a reservation and took them while to seat us. Our order was not taken promptly. Overpriced Underwhelmed! – $112.00 for two, with only 1 glass of wine and 1 cocktail. Where do you begin. Its not the dollar amount that bothers me, hardly, its the lack of value,i.e, the very cold signature lamb dish, (which btw is suppose to be served hot) the very non existent service, 45 mins between appetizer and entree. Great food, fun atmosphere – I've been to Lulu a few times and everytime was great! Most recently I went for New Year's Eve and the menu was impressive. The staff is always really friendly and the bartenders are fun to talk to. Steph in particular was really effiecient and pleasant. Unlike other reviews I found the manager to be very professional. (glasses, goatee) He asked how our meal was on the way out and welcomed us back. I'll definitely be dining at Lulu again soon. Try the profiteroles for dessert!
Appalling service. I mean REALLY bad. – I have eaten at LuLu in years past, with good success. But I cannot express how badly we were treated by the staff at Lulu at the most recent visit. Our group of 6 waited 45minutes after our reservation (after watching several others tables placed in our stead), as the hostess overlooked the order of seating her tables. 2 1/2 hours from seating to exit was uncalled for. Overall, Just Okay! – Good food! However the staff can be a little more friendly. This was my second visit to Lulu and boy! have times changed. There are so many restaurants in San Francisco , but after this last visit I would not go back because of the service or lack thereof.
