About this business

Others may claim it, but Ralph's is the oldest family-owned Italian restaurant in the country. Four generations of the same family have owned and operated this South Philadelphia restaurant since its inception in 1900. One hundred years later, they work as hard as Francesco Dispigno and his son Ralph to maintain the tradition that has been built for a century. Everything is made to order with the finest ingredients used in recipes that have been passed down from one generation to another. Room available for parties up for 60... read more

really great place for authentic Italian food Ralphs Italian Restaurant is a really great place for authentic Italian food. They have a huge variety of dishes, including salad, seafood, ravioli, gnocchis, seafood, veal, steaks, and chicken. Their ravioli is the best around. They have many different sauces you can pick from, including red, white, and oil sauces. Their appetizer selection is excellent. The prices are all very reasonable. The servers are all very friendly and give great service.

Special South Philly Place – My wife and 3 freinds went here over the weekend, first time we have ever been there and all i can say is WOW! The food is so good and the prices even better. The service was subpar but its a busy place on a weekend so i can forgive. I highly recomend and if you like Martinis try the Chocolate ones.

Good food, authentic feel. – Ralph's is a great Italian restaurant, though I've been there a few times and have some minor irritations. Twice the sauces have been watery beyond belief. Many times I've had very flippant servers. Of course, being Italian, I know that when you go to an authentic Italian restaurant, the service is usually subpar. But who cares. You go to these restaurants for food and atmosphere.

Tee Hee – It's got sort of a comedy factor, but the rude waiters and mediocre food stop making it an acceptable balance after you've brought your second out of towners to visit.

Tourist Trap – I live in the neighborhood and am saddened to think that anyone from out of town thinks that Ralph has the best Italian food to offer. And this is in the city famous for its Italian food! Simply shameful. There are fabulous meals to be had in Philly; Ralph's definitely does not make the list. Each time I found myself at Ralphs -- trust me, through no fault of my own -- I was disappointed more than the time before. The last time I was there, the waitestaff began gathering the plastic flowers and salt/pepper sha... read more

Not Impressed – It's loud in there, which is okay but when you're getting screwed on prices for average food and waiting and waiting and waiting for rude, dismissive service, the noise becomes a torture. I'd rather skip the mystique and go somewhere else.

Average – I have eaten at Ralph's just one time. The food is decent-really nothing exceptional. I found the service poor and the waiters all seemed distracted. Not bad if you just want just a pasta dish and you are in the area. Mamma Maria's is ten times better.

hugely overrated – The place looks like a real Italian restaurant. It is noisy and the waiters sweep through carrying hot plates and they all seem to have Italian accents. The food is ordinary and expensive for what you get. The service is mostly rude and dismissive. Stick to the pasta which is pretty al dente with nice sauces.

Bully! – If it is good enough for Teddy Roosevelt, it's good enough for me. I'v never had a bad meal there from pasta to veal to desert. Lasagna was great the last time I was there earlier this week!
