Arrived at the hotel having booked and paid through Agoda. The hotel has changed hands and is now called The Majestic. We were told they no longer had our reservation since the company had changed and that I had to get untouched with Agoda. The lady on reception was incredibly helpful and we were able to book a room, she also included breakfast at no extra cost due to the mix up. I have been refunded by Agoda, obviously this was no fault of the new owners.
The hotel is in a great location and was very clean, with friendly and welcoming staff. However, our stay was let down by a few disappointing issues. The bar closed at 11pm despite the website stating it would be open until midnight, and reception refused to serve drinks after 11pm. Additionally, we were unable to get any food at 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday, which was quite inconvenient. Overall, a pleasant stay in some respects, but the lack of available food and inconsistent bar hours were frustrating.
We had to wait 40 minutes to check in as our booking couldn't be found (they had recently had a system upgrade). Receptionist was miserable and didn't engage in a pleasant way. Upgraded our room which just meant we had a bigger bed. Two tea bags in breakfast tray and a toilet that wouldn't flush properly. Breakfast was awful. Ordered a full English but items were missing and it wasn't hot. Whilst we were sitting there two other tables near to us got the wrong orders.
