The Fabbri family chose Arizona to open its own small-batch set of pizzerias in 2010 and since then it has only grown in reputation. Every pizza that comes out of the wood-fired oven is perfectly crisp, just the way you would find it in their hometown of Naples. In fact, the restaurant still uses San Marzano tomatoes and Bufala di Mozzarella, just as the VPN or (Vera Pizza Napoletana) association requires. The food is "eh" and the prices are "aaaah!" I didn't want to go because I don't like paying $12 for a salad that at other places would come with your meal - and then it's not that great of a salad - but I was out-voted. BTW, I'm Italian and I've had both the pizza and pasta at Pomo and they are passable at best. Servers were nice - they do a good job.
The wait staff was friendly, the calamari and pizza were good. But the lemon torte we had for dessert came and had some hair like fibers in it. When we sent it back, the manager came over to say that he had taken it off our bill (well yay we aren't paying for that) and an explanation of the fibers that made no sense. He said the strawberry puree has fibers in it and he wanted us to be sure that we knew that they didn't serve food with hair in it. We had the pizza. Was very good. It was our first time there. Would definitely go back!
Aside from the delicious food, the service was excellent. Our waitress was amazing, took her time to not only suggest wine choices according to our preferences, but gave us samples to help decide. The manager also stopped over to help. We weren't rushed and enjoyed a leisurely dinner in a comfortable atmosphere. My new favorite place.
