If they built a sushi bar on the space station from 2001: A Space Odyssey and Austin Powers stopped by with Derek Flint and James Bond, this is what it would look like. The motif is all white and translucent plastic, with colored lights and flat screen monitors all over. When you sit on the cushions in the lounge area, they light up. There are 16 possible light settings in the private cubicles (parties of six only). The wait staff is dressed in plain gray t-shirts. Techno and lounge music play softly. Even the bathroom cubic... read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING – My first time at Pod was about 3 years ago. I always try to make it at happy hours...it's a wonderful atmosphere, really friendly bartenders, good drink prices, and an interesting and always changing crowd. My favorite is the sushi bar, I think their tuna and spicy sauce is out of this world. As for entrees, simply incredible. The food is so fresh and creative. The staff is also incredibly polite and friendly. The manager is also extremely friendly and always tries to accomodate the guests. A+.
Good – I have to disagree with most of these reviews. I have been to POD 3 different times, once during happy hour and the other two during normal dinner times. One of thses times we just walked in and they seated us in about 20 minutes on a fri night! Each time the staff was very nice and receptive to us, and the manager asked came and talked to us all 3 times. My friend even dropped his beer which was half gone and they replaced it for free. True the food is a little expensive, but only a few more dollars than you would pa... read more
Forget ambience..HOW ABOUT GETTING SEATS – Can't say that the atmosphere isn't unique... but what's the point if you can't even sit down to have a meal??? I made the mistake of putting faith on my reservation for a Saturday night. At first the hostess said they just need 5 minutes to seat us. That slowly turned to 45 minutes. I lost my nerve when they told me that despite having a reservation, "We can't give you any more time estimates on when you'll be seated." Based on the other reviews, the food seems mediocre at best... ... read more
Family style, what? – POD was a great big disappointment. First of all, the staff was rude and it took forever to be seated in a very empty restaurant. The waitor claimed that the food was served "family style" but there was not nearly enough food to share. I felt the food was very overpriced, and slightly disappointing. If you eat at POD, you're only paying for the atmosphere.
Surface vs Substance – In order for a restaurant to warrant praise, it should get service, atmosphere, and, above all, food right. POD is a great place to have an expensive drink and be seen, but if you are looking for a high quality Japanese-inspired meal (or just plain fresher fish) look elsewhere. You will pay WAY too much for mediocre sushi that you can get for half the price at four or five other places in center city (Shiroi Hana and Kisso both have better fish!) So as long as you know what you're going for, it can be ... read more
domo arigato mr roboto – a lot of people have a problem with the atmosphere of this place but if youve always wanted to eat at that space station in 2001:A Space Odyssey then youll like it. Not sure why people complain so much about how cool it tries to be, that seems kind of sophomoric. The regular menu is not any more expensive than most restaurants. If you sit at the conveyer belt you can get very stuffed on sushi for cheap actually, and the bonus is watching Pokemon on letterbox HDTV during meal! PS. dont sit at the belt... read more
All looks, no substance – Absolutely love the decor, but the sushi was very disappointing... Poor selection, not the freshest in town. The remainder of the menu was unremarkable
great place – Really enjoyed myself here..Food is excellent, service great, & reaaly cool decor.
IF YOU WANT TO GO TO A RESTAURANT SOLELY FOR LOOKS, THEN THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I ENJOYED THE PODS THAT CHANGED COLORS, BUT THAT WAS THE BEST THING ABOUT THE RESTAURANT.
Pod has a 4.3 star rating with 1,187 reviews.
Pod is closed now. It will open at 9:00 a.m.
