Thank you to all of our loyal customers and greetings to those of you who are just now finding us. We have had the pleasure (and sometimes headaches) of being in the hospitality business for over 30 years. We are continuing in our tradition of presenting wonderful ingredients and offering a world class collection of Wines, Ports and Madeira to match. We have kept many of our upscale Indian dishes and added some exciting non-Indian dinners with our Chef's Whimsy Wine Paired events. We are still located in the Meirs mansion on... read more

Bad Service Bad Food – This is not good Indian food, will not go back again. Slow service and food was not seasoned properly. Disappointing.
Salty Food and Bad Service – Went here for a special occasion and the food was cold and salty. Considering there were only 2 other parties of 2 and 4 in the restaurant, the service was very slow. I have had better Indian food in the Beaverton area and the Silicon Valley. This place does not match it's reputation.
This is Indian food? – I've eaten at scores of Indian places all over the western US, and one thing is certain - I've never had Indian food quite like Plainfield Mayur's. Maybe this sounds like a good thing. It isn't. To be fair, I must say that our Dahi Wada was excellent. Unfortunately, everything is unusually expensive. Our food was excessively greasy and bland. The royal biryani ($18) was drenched in butter and, sadly, sorely lacking flavor. We were so disappointed that we took more than half of our food to go and let it... read more
Upscale environs and a harmonious blend of exotic flavors offers a taste of colonial elegance. – In Short Housed in a converted Victorian, there are two floors of clothed tables appointed with bone china, silver and European crystal. Carvings of Hindu deities adorn each room. Upstairs, the tandoori-style kitchen allows diners to witness the magical transformation of culinary delights in the 1,000-degree oven. Entrees include the Bombay machi: tender chunks of Pacific halibut flavored with ginger, coconut and masala.
Romantic...Ambience, Service, Wine – I enjoyed the dinining experiece but did not feel the menu had sufficient variety to suit my interests. The food was well prepared and the presentation was excellent. I enjoyed the lamb, loved the cucumber salad, but found the naan subpar. Service was superior (however I went when the resturant was nearly empty so it was not a good test of their service during busy periods).
Everything was perfect – I just hosted my daughters rehearsal dinner here. It could not have been better. The food was wonderful! I had a few guests that were afraid of Indian food who went away happily amazed. We prearranged everything and the staff was easy to work with. They kindly helped me every step of the way and did not once become annoyed with the nervous mother of the bride. We have been dinning here for years and were excited to host our special occassion here. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable my bill ... read more
Eat here only when dying of hunger – A friend and I recently visited Portland from Austin and had the greatest misfortune of trying Plainfield's Mayur for dinner. We ordered Baingan Bhartha (mashed eggplant), bhindi curry (okra) and vegetable korma. The food could not be any worse. The bhindi was half cooked, the eggplant was too salty, the vegetable korma was edible at best. The ambience is nice and the art display is good, but unfortunately a restaurent is not a museum -- FOOD IS THE FIRST PRIORITY.
Saturday night downer – We have eaten here twice - once with a large group and once with a small family group. The food is so disappointing. The chicken tikka masala was made up of only poor quality brown meat. The plates are cold. The starters were average. Unfortunately we could not recommend this restaurant for atmosphere, food or service and, on both occasions, our minds have been open but the final result was not worth the effort of a drive to down town. SORRY but a big thumbs down. We have eaten Indian food in many cou... read more
Plainfield's Not Really for indians – I agree Plainfield's has an extensive wine list and everything inside the restaurant reminds me of India. But I am sorry to say that the food was very disappointing and the wait staff was not at all knowledgable about the food. My husband usually eats just about anything you give to him but he couldnt even take two bites of Makhani Murg. The naan was flaky like a pastry instead of being fluffy. I wouldn't recommend Plainfield's Mayur to anyone who wants real Indian food. Anyone with a re... read more
