The Old Homestead Steak House first opened in 1868 and it remains a straightforward, old-fashioned steakhouse without sacrificing any of the modern amenities. In this sense, thankfully, it is no longer that difficult to get Kobe beef from Japan, which probably wasn't on the menu in 1868. Most of the dishes are priced in the higher range, but are well worth your money.

Best Steak House in New York City. Love this place, the food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. We go once a month, will recommend this place to anyone.

First and last time I will go there. We had a terrible seat, in the very back next to the restroom and waiter station. (Even though it was only 3:30 on a Sunday and plenty of other open tables, but I didn't want to seem rude asking for a better seat, since we were entertaining guests.) My chair was constantly getting bumped. Had awful service, I had to keep asking for more water, but he would over fill our wine glasses.
