With a name like the Old Homestead, you are almost certain that this restaurant praises the bovine from top to bottom. The Old Homestead Steak House first opened in 1868 and it remains a straightforward, old-fashioned steakhouse without sacrificing any of the modern amenities. In this sense, thankfully, it is no longer that difficult to get Kobe beef from Japan, which probably wasn't on the menu in 1868. Most of the dishes are priced in the higher range, but are well worth your money.

Our first try at the Old Homestead was good, but not great, which really isn't unexpected given that we chose the lunch special ribeye steaks instead of going all-out for their famed high-quality selections. So, no complaints; the experience was pleasant from start to finish - the décor was warm, the waitstaff attentive, and the food and drink good - but next time I'll be sure to skip the specials and go straight for those top-quality steaks for which Old Homestead is famous. And there will be a next time!
Without fail-every single time- perfect! Best service, atmosphere, drinks and the most beautiful, delicious porterhouse for 2 on the planet! I hope I get to go there for my birthday! I deserve it!
Had the rib steak for two and it was incredible! The calamari and shrimp appetizer came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. I will be back next time I'm in New York.
BAD BAD BAD and so expensive for what it is.... 47 USD for a very ordinary piece of meet..which takes 45 minutes to come, without sides ( 10 USD for some fat fat spinach)... absolutely avoid that scam/Ripp-off. cross the street and enjoy one of the charming/good/affordable restaurants in Chelsea Market.
