RecommendedReliability, durability. Okuma has been my go to reel company for years whether it be float, troll or casting.
Ordered a SLX-20II and it arrived with a bent crank. After getting nowhere with the dealer, I contacted Okuma via messenger directly. Soon after my post Okuma contacted me, sent me a replacement reel and I just dropped off the vent one in front mail back to them. Thanks for stepping up!

Eyelid on my rod all but two broke off. And rods only two seasons old. Only used maybe a doze or two times.
Nomad Inshore Saltwater Multi Action Travel Rods-NTi-S-703ML-M Exceeded expectations. First use on a trip to the Florida keys for some all around fishing, inshore, dock, offshore and it performed flawlessly. Icing on the cake was the 48" 25+ lb Barracuda from under the dock, where the rod performed so well you would never know it was not a one piece rod. I bought a Okuma Rod/Reel from Gander Mountain Going Out of Business Sale for $25 about 2 years ago. I wasn’t expecting much but was impressed once I used it. I have since bought all Okuma Reels to pair with my Shakespeare Rods since I don’t plan on breaking the bank with a $500 rod/reel combo anytime in my life. I have no complaints with Okuma and can’t wait to see what they bring in the future.
I love these rods, I have the SST-S- 502 ML trout fishing 5'ultralight and am just very happy with them.
