Oak Alley was beautiful and the rains of Hurricane Harvey only made it more sultry and dramatic. We stayed in cottage No. 4 which was so beautiful and genuinely authentic. Don't head south without visiting this fantastic property.

Beautifully maintained plantation - I knew only a cursory amount about this region and it's history of slavery, and Oak Alley Plantation provided such an interesting, detailed insight into the background of the area - the tour guides are very knowledgable and the exhibition at the back of the estate is especially fascinating - a must visit!

My husband and I visited Oak Alley and we were disturbed by the focus of the tour being on the big house. It was quite large and beautiful and the trees are breathtaking BUT this was a place of horrors. There's no way that owning others could have been such a great experience as described by the tour guide. My husband and I were overwhelmed with sadness at the realization that we would have never been inside the big house. We just didn't think that the main focus should have been on the slave owners.
