He seemed like a genuinely caring doctor at first, but I have come to believe his lab tests are a scam. I've had all the tests run by multiple other doctors and specialists, all of which tested negative when his lab tested positive. Moreover, I would advise anyone who takes antibiotics or supplements from this practice (or anywhere else for that matter) to do your own research on the side effects of these medicines. I used to think Dr. Fishman was a good Lyme doctor, but not so much anymore. He charges a fortune for things that I don't even think he knows if they are useful or not. However, the biggest problem is his rude staff. They have a very high turnover rate and I'm assuming there is a reason for that. The women at the front a few years ago were nice, respectful and helpful. Honestly coming from someone who actually was diagnosed with Lyme disease by another doctor and then recommended to go see him, I dont think he is a great doctor. He gave me very low doses of medication and kept telling me that it would take up to a year or longer to cure, the more I took medicine or supplements the more I got sick and had severe symptoms, I decided to get a second opinion by John Hopkins by an infectious disease specialist who told me to stop all my medication and once I did for over a week I would have to ... read more
I suspected my numerous health problems were caused by chronic Lyme disease and was referred to Dr. Fishman. Testing confirmed it, but since some of the testing was done by special labs, it cost me nearly $1500 to see him and get diagnosed. He is not a provider with any insurance company and is therefore out of network. Dr Fishman is the greatest doctor I have ever had. He has treated me for chronic Lyme and related infections for 7 years, always seeking the best combination of drugs and supplements. He constantly searches for new answers to this baffling and very persistent syndrome. He is extremely organized and starts each visit with a thorough discussion of lab results, explaining everything. Seen Dr. since '06. Good experience until recently when I told the nurse (who seemed not to care) about the poor treatment/multiple mistakes/medical diagnosis made by office staff. Problems w/lab work done at Dr's office & sent to labcorp. The Dr. refuses to allow lab company to send correct form into my insurance as my labs are covered at 100% when proper form is used. Excellent dr. and excellent match for me. Knowledge is both broad and deep as well as updated, and his clinical experience is extensive. Obviously a very intelligent person with a reassuring bedside manner and a great sense of humor. Is ther anything this man can't converse about? I had high hopes for this doctor... my initial appointment with him I felt like he was very knowledgeable and had a good treatment plan outlined. But complications with supplements and questions I had led me to believe this was not the doctor for me. I could never get a hold of him on the phone and they refused to make an appointment or phone consult with him - only his nurse practitioners (who are pretty much useless.) Caring, gentle, so knowledgeable and approachable. Alternative medical knowledge vast, love that he offers safer, less toxic options. Patient care is ONLY focus and it shows!
