Ive paid into *** for 30 years and New York Life is doing everything possible to stretch out the claim process. The case manager rarely responds to messages or voicemails. Ive been sent the same letter of correspondence 4 times. Its been going on since December and Ive spoken with a case manager 3 times. I was told my documents from my primary doctor, neurologist, psychiatrist, and therapist were received and were sent for review weeks ago. I was told I would hear something within a week, instead I got a call from the case m... read more
This company is the worst when it comes to paying disability which is its sole purpose. *** submitted everything theyve asked me too 5 times including once directly into my portal. I still havent gotten paid for a month. Theyre crooks and should be investigated. All their customer service people barely speak English and have no idea what theyre doing. Im compiling all my evidence and building a case because what theyre doing is illegal.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. **************** is extremely important to us and we have escalated the customers concerns to the appropriate levels of management to be addressed. According to our review, the customer ceased working on June 25, 2023 and was not eligible for benefits under the policy until August 1, 2023. Since the customer ceased working prior to his effective date, they are not eligible for STD benefits. On Apri... read more
7 weeks of no response to voice mails asking to return my call about my LTD BENEFITS. ALL I EVER GET IS MY CASE MANAGER IS NOT IN THE OFFICE AT THIS TIME. Terrible customer service, we pay for this in case of emergency that sadly happened to me. Now I have had little to no income for 4 months and still no resolution. I have exhausted my savings and things are getting bad. My credit is suffering, my livelihood has suffered beyond the medical problems now I am worried about my family and still no call back or information.<br /... read more
This Insurance Company is the worse we have ever seen on Paying Disability Claims Wouldnt Recommend this Company to Anyone.
Business response:
We regret that this customer had a poor experience with our **********************. When a customer files a claim, we are required to gather information to determine whether they satisfy the provisions of the policy. In this case, we show that the claim was approved on 12/15/23 and the customer has been receiving monthly *** benefits since that time. The policy requires continued proof of Disability and the customers cooperation with gathering the information. We encourage the customer to work with his Claim Manager to ensur... read more
They have denied twice FMLA for taking care of my mother while she was dying. My mother had terminal cancer plus mental illness and multiple organ failure, believe or not they open the case twice because first time their excuse was for me not sending medical records in time, which it wasnt true because they never sent any message requesting my mother medical records. After that I called them and we re open the case and the next day *************** sent all info they have requested, and we got a confirmation that they receive... read more
To be in insurance you have to have some sort of empathy and respect towards clients whether they been with NYL for 5 minutes or 50 years. The Claims Manager working on my wife's FMLA/ STD case has been nothing short of rude and extremly disrespectful towards her from start to finish. My wife was having an issue with some paperwork NYL submitted for her STD claim to the state, my wife called in to speak to the Claims Manager to see if they can get the issue rectified OR see what needs to be done to get it rectified, not that... read more

Based on the information the customer provided we are unable to determine which specific claim they are referring to. If the customer is willing to provide more information to us- incident number for the claim, DOB, employer, etc wed be glad to look into this further.
Submitted and was approved for short-term disability for recovery from surgery at a 66% rate. First of all, NY Life errored and only paid me at a 33% rate, which hopefully they will fix. Second, they never mentioned to me that I also had to file for a state disability to get the extra 170 dollars to hit the full 66% rate. All in all, currently Im only getting paid at a 10% rate under $100 per week, even though my paperwork says they are paying me 66%. In my time of need Im let down by a company that would seem to be reputabl... read more

We regret that the customer had a poor experience with our **********************. We understand his frustration and hope he can understand it is our goal to administer the policy according to its terms. The policy provides a weekly benefit of *****% of the customers Covered Earnings. Covered Earnings are obtained from his Employer at the initiation of the claim. Correction of Covered Earnings was recently received, and an adjustment was issued to the customer on March 27, 2024. Should the customer have any questions, they m... read more
I have been out for short-term disability for a cardiac issue then turned into a vision issue, which caused me to lose vision in both eyes, enough that I could not see. I underwent a series of injections over months while healing from the cardiac issue to have optical surgery which is scheduled for ***** My short-term disability (covered by the state) ended at the end of Feb. My employer then contacted NY Life and started the process of Long Term Disability to see me through until I can return to work in a few months. What s... read more

Review of our records shows that the customer's *** claim was approved 4/23/24 and remains active at this time. We regret the frustration that occurred during the management of the claim back in 3/2024. as part of our management of their claim.
NYL group benefit solutions only solves delaying payments and shorting you of what you pay for. They are the slowest responders and constantly saying they havent received all necessary paperwork needed to process your claim, no matter how many times we fax it to them with confirmation of their retrieval, email pdf documents, etc. I highly recommend that you find a different insurance company because this company goes above and beyond to do all they can to make sure you dont get the benefits you pay for. When you are on short... read more
