Great Indian food without a plane ticket My friend introduced me to this restaurant last week. I've lived in San Francisco forever, but didn't know it was in my backyard! A good bang for the buck. Portions are big and the food tastes good and is healthy at the same time. Tthey asked our spice preferences and adjusted accordingly (mild-ish for my friend, hot!hot!hot! for me). Worth the trip! We have enjoyed Indian food for many years all over the Bay area. Our meal last week was one of our best ever. The mango prawns and rogan josh were excellent and the nan is outstanding. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Don't be mislead by the reviews that complain about mandatory tips. If this was ever the policy, it seems to have been discontinued. Indeed, the service that we received was so helpful and professional that 18% would have been a bargain! Highly recommended.

Very good masala I came here by myself and was treated very well - plus the food was outstanding. I travel into the city for business a lot and often eat alone. Waiters have a tendency to ignore the lone diner, but everyone here was very attentive without being over bearing, answered all my questions and kept my chai full. My tikka masala was excellent and the nan bread is possibly the best I've ever had. Very happy, will definitely be back

Great indian away from home Great, fast, friendly service. The food was delicious. Very relaxing setting just a couple blocks from Union Square. A young woman was very friendly and made me feel right at home. I had the garlic naan and the chicken/spinach dish. The naan was genuine and the chicken/spinach (sorry that I don't know the Indian name) was fresh, warm and tender. I travel a great deal and I genuinely enjoy a wonderful eating experience. This place is one of those places I visit again and again.

Good for locals and visitors I am lucky enough to live walking distance to New Delhi and so have been able to visit often. If you haven't been here -- go immediately!! I try to have something new every time I visit and I have never been disappointed. This restaurant is great even for those who may not like traditional Indian cuisine. The samosa appetizer is melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the house fave, mango prawns, was cooked and flavored perfectly. The tandoori platter is a total must, too! Great things with eggplant I've been coming here with my family for awhile and the food has stayed consistently excellent - which is no small feat when you consider how fast staff turnover can be in restaurants.

One of the best My family loves Indian food. We have eaten almost all the Indian restaurants here in SF. This restaurant is No.1 in terms of quality of food, freshness of ingredients, and service. If you like Indian curry, you must go to this one. The nan bread is what really sets this place apart. There's a tandoor oven in the kitchen, so the bread comes out really hot and authentic. Great food and service! I would pass this place several times throughout the weeks and finally decided to do some research as I was on the hunt for some good Indian food. After reading all the positive feedback, I decided to order take-out service. The lady who took my order was very nice and informative. Fresh and authtentically hot I'm a Brit living in the US, and given my homeland's passion for Indian food I'm often disappointed by the restaurants in this otherwise fine country. So, hold the press.... New Delhi was a surprise treat.
