Extremely overpriced but Very good food and service It won't be incorrect to say that this is the most Expensive indian Restaurant I have been to in San Francisco. But the ambiance of this place is very nice, service is top of the line and the food is just awesome. Don't miss naan and kolhapuri chicken. PROS: Nice food and good service CONS: Overpriced
New Delhi Restaurant is great for everybody! And I can prove it. I found myself in the interesting position of having to find a restaurant that could accommodate two vegetarians, a gluten-free person, two carnivores and one person who didn't want to eat anything "weird". Um, yeah. Everyone agreed to give Indian a shot and off we trooped to New Delhi Restaurant. I live in the hood, so I come here all the time and was pretty confident they could make everyone mostly happy. There's a full bar, so if nothing else we could just d... read more
Worth the wait Without a question, New Delhi Restaurant is the place serving the best Indian food in the San Francisco area. And, the food comes with the kind of efficient service that rivals the best in the business and is light years ahead of any other Indian restaurant in this area. We have had three experiences with New Delhi - everyone of them delightful - , once for lunch, once for dinner and once for catering for our son's birthday party. Watch out though, the restaurant is extremely popular so be prepared to wait at ... read more
Very Impressive I recently dined at New Delhi Restaurant and have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with everything the restaurant had to offer. As the dining room was very full, and we were unable to wait due to later engagements, my partners and I were convinced to eat at the bar by Chef Mohammed. We were so impressed with the efficiency with which everyone worked, and the quality of service they gave. All of our needs were anticipated ahead of time. We felt like we were in the dining room of a 5 star restaurant, not ... read more
Great Indian food without a plane ticket My friend introduced me to this restaurant last week. I've lived in San Francisco forever, but didn't know it was in my backyard! A good bang for the buck. Portions are big and the food tastes good and is healthy at the same time. Tthey asked our spice preferences and adjusted accordingly (mild-ish for my friend, hot!hot!hot! for me). The nan was fantastic - it came out of the kitchen crispy and steaming and went well with the sauces. We had delightful and quick service. The waiters a... read more
Great indian away from home Great, fast, friendly service. The food was delicious. Very relaxing setting just a couple blocks from Union Square. A young woman was very friendly and made me feel right at home. I had the garlic naan and the chicken/spinach dish. The naan was genuine and the chicken/spinach (sorry that I don't know the Indian name) was fresh, warm and tender. I travel a great deal and I genuinely enjoy a wonderful eating experience. This place is one of those places I visit again and again.
Very good masala I came here by myself and was treated very well - plus the food was outstanding. I travel into the city for business a lot and often eat alone. Waiters have a tendency to ignore the lone diner, but everyone here was very attentive without being over bearing, answered all my questions and kept my chai full. My tikka masala was excellent and the nan bread is possibly the best I've ever had. Very happy, will definitely be back
Yay Spicy! New Delhi gets four stars just for having ghost chili sauce. Just so you understand how excited I am/was, let me repeat: GHOST CHILI. Got it? Good. I'm not sure that is on the menu, but when requested, they provide. Well, it was not actually requested. It was more of me asking for lamb vindaloo "Indian spicy" and the server laughing at me. So, the manager comes out and asks for the person who requested Indian spicy. I tepidly raise my hand. He told me they would give us a little bit of ghost chili sauce in a bowl,... read more
Indian food and booze ! What's not to love? Love this place - mostly because I love Indian food and cocktails. But I needed to seat about 8 people of varying conflicting diets and not only did they take my reservation on short notice, but the staff was great about explaining the dishes and making sure the meat stuff was far from the vegan stuff and everyone had all the nan they could handle - except the gluten-free person. ;-} Great food and a great evening. I'll definitely be back again!
