The crowds are there for a reason Very popular and sometimes difficult to get in, especially on weekends. A good choice for the classic Indian favorites. Kormas and Tikkas are solid and rich. Soul Food from the subcontinent. Service and atmosphere are almost exactly what you would expect from a quality western-urban indian establishment.
Good food and bar My #1 Indian restaurant. An absolute go-to whenever I get to SF. Love the Union Square location, the atmosphere, and a better-than-average booze selection. Most Indian places aren't known for their bars, but this one is well-stocked - and very nice to hang out in, as well. The Chicken Tikka Masala is my litmus test for every Indian restaurant, and this one is the best. The Palak Paneer is superb, as is the Lamb Biryani and Lamb Korma. Just go. Enjoy. It is the best.
Great food and service! I would pass this place several times throughout the weeks and finally decided to do some research as I was on the hunt for some good Indian food. So, so good. Really good Indian food is a divine, truly. I've had a lot of middling Indian food lately and this was not that. This was really good. My BF and I started with hot naan that was soft and delicious. it came with mint and tamarind chutney. Then I had the chicken korma and he had the lamb vindaloo. Great food, really nice amosphere My girlfriend has always loved the New Delhi and has gotten me hooked on it too. Their curry is always seasoned perfectly and their nan bread is fantastic! The restaurant def has an older/business feel but the food is great! The waitstaff is very knowledgable and friendly there.
Good for my family Wonderfully diverse menu and fantastic service. My husband and I had Chicken Korma and a lamb dish. Both were excellent. Our kids enjoyed the chili pakoras and samosas. A great evening! My girlfriend and I along with some friends visited New Delhi Restaurant. Food was really excellent and the service was quick. The ambiance was good and altogether it was an enjoyable experience. We had the rogan josh - a rich spicy lamb curry - and the chicken korma, which is a much more mild, creamy dish. We had rice and nan with dinner and pakoras with chutney to start. Everything was delicious and the spices were well-balanced. Definitely be back.
Great things with eggplant I've been coming here with my family for awhile and the food has stayed consistently excellent - which is no small feat when you consider how fast staff turnover can be in restaurants. I'll always love the chicken korma and sag paneer. But lately the mango prawns and tamarind eggplant have been hitting the sweet spot.
