The crowds are right I've been going to New Delhi Restaurant with my fiance for about three years now. It actually keeps tasting better and better if that's even possible. The Mango Prawns truly like crack. (If I ever tried crack that is.) You know when something is soooo good, it makes you lightheaded? Well, that's New Delhi. The place is packed at dinner. Get there at 6:00 if you want a seat. Weekends are just as slammed. Has progressively gotten busier. Must be the food, huh?

A wonderful weekend diner My husband and I enjoyed a delicious early Saturday evening dinner at New Delhi Restaurant. I ordered the Tandoori Platter, a delicious combination of tandoori meats. My husband had the Chicken Tikki Masala, honestly one of the best chicken dishes we've ever tasted. Service was attentive and we were seated immediately. I recommend New Delhi Restaurant for delicious, unique food at a reasonable price,

One of the best My family loves Indian food. We have eaten almost all the Indian restaurants here in SF. This restaurant is No.1 in terms of quality of food, freshness of ingredients, and service. If you like Indian curry, you must go to this one. The nan bread is what really sets this place apart. There's a tandoor oven in the kitchen, so the bread comes out really hot and authentic. My parents lived in Indian and London for awhile and they were both very impressed by New Delhi. We tried everything from appetizer to dessert... read more

Good food, quiet atmosphere We learned about New Delhi from a coworker who has family members who work at the restaurant. It's one of those places that-if you didn't know it was there, you'd never know it was there. From the minute you walk in the door, you feel like you are in for a wonderful experience. You could spend days looking at the old photos and decorations on the walls. The bartender was adorable without being annoying, the food is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the portions are adequate without making you feel... read more

The Parents loved it, too! The first time we went here was to take my boyfriend's dad who grew up in England and who has been on the search for good Indian food ever since he moved. Since we recently moved to San Francisco I relied on the suggestions from co-workers and reviews online. The reviews were great but I didn't say anything to the parents - I wanted to see what their opinion was first. Our second visit was to take my parents for my dad's birthday. The atmosphere is lovely with tall marble pillars and lots of brass ... read more

Good for locals and visitors I am lucky enough to live walking distance to New Delhi and so have been able to visit often. If you haven't been here -- go immediately!! I try to have something new every time I visit and I have never been disappointed. This restaurant is great even for those who may not like traditional Indian cuisine. The samosa appetizer is melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the house fave, mango prawns, was cooked and flavored perfectly. The tandoori platter is a total must, too! I absolutely love this restau... read more

Worth the trip! We have enjoyed Indian food for many years all over the Bay area. Our meal last week was one of our best ever. The mango prawns and rogan josh were excellent and the nan is outstanding. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Don't be mislead by the reviews that complain about mandatory tips. If this was ever the policy, it seems to have been discontinued. Indeed, the service that we received was so helpful and professional that 18% would have been a bargain! Highly recommended.

Fresh and authtentically hot I'm a Brit living in the US, and given my homeland's passion for Indian food I'm often disappointed by the restaurants in this otherwise fine country. So, hold the press.... New Delhi was a surprise treat. The dishes were not only great tasting with deep complex authentic flavors, but they took a reassuringly long time to arrive and were probably the freshest Indian food I've eaten this side of the Atlantic. Probably the best part of the experience was the *realistic* spiciness of their dishes. T... read more
