The crowds are right I've been going to New Delhi Restaurant with my fiance for about three years now. It actually keeps tasting better and better if that's even possible. The Mango Prawns truly like crack. (If I ever tried crack that is.) You know when something is soooo good, it makes you lightheaded? Well, that's New Delhi. The place is packed at dinner. Get there at 6:00 if you want a seat. Weekends are just as slammed. Has progressively gotten busier. Must be the food, huh?
Everything is wonderful The service is attentive, the ambiance is like a spacious dining room, the staff is professional. large selections of vegetarian and meats are just mouth watering. We a wonderful eggplant, nice daal, amazing puffy naan bread made fresh in a tandoor oven, chicken korma, mango chutney, raita, and tamarind. Everything delicious. The garlic nan bread is awesome (which I am still thinking about now). All in all a delightful and fabulous evening. Not the last time we will be at New Delhi.
New Delhi Restaurant is great for everybody! And I can prove it. I found myself in the interesting position of having to find a restaurant that could accommodate two vegetarians, a gluten-free person, two carnivores and one person who didn't want to eat anything "weird". Um, yeah. Everyone agreed to give Indian a shot and off we trooped to New Delhi Restaurant. I live in the hood, so I come here all the time and was pretty confident they could make everyone mostly happy. There's a full bar, so if nothing else we could just d... read more
Best Indian in town This food is delicious, priced well and served family style. I often enjoy the Tandoori Chicken and the Naan. I'm sure my frequent visits to the restaurant have the staff thinking of me as someone who can't cook for themselves, but there is nothing not to like about this restaurant if you like Indian food. If you are a plain meat and potatoes person, you may not like it, because spices abound with this delicious food.
Great food and service Just discovered this hidden gem in the Union Square area with its extremely reasonable prices, homemade quality and a great full service bar to boot - this is hands-down the best Indian in SF and surrounding area, coming from someone who has tried nearly all local indian spots. Going to an upscale Indian place is a real treat and I'm glad they are there.
Finally the carnivores and vegetarians can share a table I have a lot of friends on both sides of the meat/non-meat fence. This makes eating out as a group a challenge, to say the least. However, New Delhi is the one place we all agree on. (And those who don't can just have mango martinis for dinner. Ooo, there's an idea!) The restaurant itself is lovely: tall columns, marble floors and white linen as far as you can see. The food is what keeps us coming back. They have all the Indian classics, some variations on the theme. I... read more
The crowds are there for a reason Very popular and sometimes difficult to get in, especially on weekends. A good choice for the classic Indian favorites. Kormas and Tikkas are solid and rich. Soul Food from the subcontinent. Service and atmosphere are almost exactly what you would expect from a quality western-urban indian establishment.
A wonderful weekend diner My husband and I enjoyed a delicious early Saturday evening dinner at New Delhi Restaurant. I ordered the Tandoori Platter, a delicious combination of tandoori meats. My husband had the Chicken Tikki Masala, honestly one of the best chicken dishes we've ever tasted. Service was attentive and we were seated immediately. I recommend New Delhi Restaurant for delicious, unique food at a reasonable price,
Worth the wait Without a question, New Delhi Restaurant is the place serving the best Indian food in the San Francisco area. And, the food comes with the kind of efficient service that rivals the best in the business and is light years ahead of any other Indian restaurant in this area. We have had three experiences with New Delhi - everyone of them delightful - , once for lunch, once for dinner and once for catering for our son's birthday party. Watch out though, the restaurant is extremely popular so be prepared to wait at ... read more
