My daughter's wallet was stolen. Someone went on a spending spree with this account after we had reported the card stolen. Netspend told us that we had to prove it wasn't us even after we had already filed a police report and reported the card stolen. I asked how we could get the money out of the account, and was told to use the debit card. Oh, the debit card that was stolen?? Wow! I asked how to transfer the money to another bank account and was told we couldn't since it is a debit card and not an actual bank account. WTF? ... read more

I consider this a FAKE company with FALSE and MISLEADING 'service'. I purchased a card in my local Dollar General store, understanding it was 'instant issue' (which to me means when I loaded money on it I would be able to 'instantly' use it). After purchasing I came to realize that I had to 'register' and 'request' a card. The registration required me to give my social security number. Their customer service sucks my netspend card was stolen in May 2020 and my bank account was emptied and netspend sided with the fraudulent companies and took all 3600 of my money back with NO EXPLAINANIATION as to why they decided against us their policy is to send proof of their decision in the mail within 3 business days we received nothing then they said it was also sent email we received NOTHING there either so my advice is to be smart and NEVER USE NETSPEND EVER ITS A RIP OFF THEY ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE BBB

No one seems to know their butt from a hole in ground at this company. I've had an ongoing case with them for over 2 months now and everytime I call I am on the phone for 2 hours....no exaggeration and they keep switching me from department to department where I get a different answer EVERY TIME!!! One department tells me my refund was cut, then they switch me to another department so I can get a tracking number only to get told by this department that a check will be cut today and i will receive it in 7 days.....yup you gue... read more

I also received an unsolicited debit card in the mail, all attempts to reach out to customer service have been ignored and you can't speak to anyone at their 800 number without activating your card. I did not request this card nor would I have ever, this is a complete fraud. The fees on this card are out of control, I would never use a debit card that did not come from my Financial institution. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is not a good way to do business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH NETSPEND.

For some reason they decided to block my SSN associated with the accounts causing me being completely unable to access them. The only way to unblock my SSN is to either fax or email them pictures of my social security card, driver license and proof of residence (utility bill). Don't know how many people nowadays have a fax machine, but I'm certainly not one of them. And there's no way I'm emailing them PII like a picture of the social security card since I've never heard of email being a safe medium for transferring of PII. ... read more

I received a debit card in the mail for which I did not apply. This is dishonest and confusing advertising. When I called the company and asked how they obtained my information, they refused to answer and went silent on the phone. This is unethical business practice. I will be filing a complaint with the federal reserve as well. If you receive a card like this, destroy it and do not activate it.

I've been with NetSpend for 9 years now. I filed a dispute not long ago because I made a purchase online with what I later found out was a fake business. They gladly took my money, but I never received the product. I received emails from a fake email account with a tracking number and everything! Very legit looking! The tracking number led right here to the same town I live in, too! It took me several times to realize that the tracking number was old, that the item this tracking number went to was a package delivered back in... read more
