During the month of March 2018, my son (who is 19 years old) received a call on his cellphone from NetSpend telling him his account was about to expire. They said he needed to give them his bank account number and his social security number. My son was not aware of the repercussions of this and gave his information. He later received a prepaid MasterCard with his name on it. I am disappointed that someone would use this method to reach a child's personal information in this way. This company has the absolute worse customer service I have ever experienced. And so far the card has not worked in any foreign country I have tried it in because their crappy software can’t tell the difference between the foreign currency and USD so their system thinks you are trying to withdraw two million dollars if you are in Vietnam trying to get $90. !!!! Crooked information collector claims no credit check then you go to activate it wants you to send social security #, drivers license copy, telephone bill, water bill, & power bill

I am surprised it has such negative reviews, absolutely shocked. I have been a Netspend customer / card holder for 3 years and use it for my day to day transactions, bill pay, and have my direct deposit go to this account. I've never had any troubles, not charged for transactions because of the amount I deposit I guess, that's what I've read. When I've called customer service in the past it is a bit daunting trying to reach a person, so they definitely prefer people handle it online so I did. Just last weekend I shut down on... read more

I have had nothing but issues and given the runaround by this company for the past month dealing with wrong information, rude representitives, extremely long hold times when asks to speak with a supervisor and worst yet missing my money from a direct deposit. When trying to get help tracking down whats happening they love to play the blame game on the other side as they are "just the receiving end" of the deposit. Good evening, I have spent the entire evening trying to activate my daughters prepaid card. She originally called earlier to activate the card for her trip. The card was purchased for daughter. When she attempted to activate the card she was told to call back with her legal guardian. I called back with hopes or activating the card. I received a card that I did not apply for and feel this is poor business. You can not shove a credit card down the throats of customers and think that you can maintain any type of good business standards. Terrible Business Practice.. Makes sense why you have a Better Business Bureau rating of F
