A splendid culinary adventure awaits you at Navarre, a unique dining destination with a highly innovative take on the working of a restaurant. The interiors have a very casual, cafe-style vibe with bare walls, a wine shelf on one of the walls and a handful of lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The all-glass entrance allows a good play of natural light inside. The chef crafts an innovative selection of European small plates with influences from the Italian, French and Spanish palate. The twist however, comes with the menu. Th... read more

Great food, Great wine, Great fun – I ate at Navarre the other night I had a really nice meal and some interesting wines. The surprise was they are open for breakfast and lunch. I have since tried both. They were nothing like what I have grown to expect at night. Breakfast was clean and simple. I loved it. Lunch was well lunch. Subs and soup, salads and specials that reflect the night menu a little bit. Lunch wine for 5.00. I had lunch at 3:00 in the afternoon and sat quietly with a glass of wine watching the night crew set ... read more
If you enjoy being barely acknowledged & Paying MORE for LESS, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! – It was so very evident that the gal working was NOT happy when we got there, she said NOTHING when we walked in and walked like a sloth from the kitchen to our table, she pointed to the coffee and said if you want it, there it is. Her apron was SOILED and looked like it has never been cleaned, she grabbed all the silverware by the tops instead of the handles, G R O S S. The food was ultra tiny portions, a side of bacon was $3.00 and c... read more
great food, unattentive to nonexistent service – Have always wanted to try Navarre since the reviews in the Oregonian Dining special. Finally went this past Friday evening. In a nutshell, the food was quite good, but the service was nearly nonexistent. No one was available to explain the self-service menu system ... we had to ask diners around us. Once explained, it is simple and easy to use ... a good idea, in fact, especially if you can find someone on the wait staff to help you figure out what the cursory descriptions rea... read more
Good location – If you are expecting the tapas that remind you of Madrid-Ox tail stew, sizzling shrimp, one euro white wine in bowls- don't go here. The place was disappointing in variety, flavor, and service. The waitress was friendly and the olives were good.
Such good food – I went to Navarre the other day. I had such a good experience. The food was wonderful they had a special wine list with wines from the loire valley and I got to try some wines I had never had before. There were specials that were typical of the Loire Valley that complimented the wines. Each month they are trying to pick a region of the world and focus on the food and wine. I think this is great. They had all the old favorates and everything was great. It can get a little hectic when it gets busy. Its worth i... read more
Finger Lickin' YUCK – My boyfriend picked Navarre by closing his eyes and stopping his finger in the Portland Monthly Magazine restaurants section. Yikes. We were seated promptly and the owner came and chatted with us. A blonde lady with no personality came and took our order. Flat personality-we're there to eat so we didn't care. We did not see ANY food, no bread, nothing, for another 45 minutes. BUT, during that time, we were treated to every one of the five employees picking at the food, eating it, then licking their fing... read more
The worst meal and service we've ever had – Let me start by saying that I have never been compelled to write a negative review about any restaurant in Portland, and I dine out multiple times each week. Last night, my husband and I decided to have some wine and small plates with two of our good friends. We opted for the outdoor seating and after asking for permission to seat ourselves, promptly sat for about 15 minutes without any attention at all. The service was extraordinarily slow, and the server was quite unfriendly. Fur... read more
we always leave happy – Navarre simply does a good job. While every place will have bumps in service and food, we have found the general experience to be worth going back for, to see what new tasty items are on the daily menu. If you have an adventurous palate, ask the kitchen to send you what is good that day and you will not be dissapointed.
Eastside urbanites flock here for adventurous tapas and sizzling scene. – In Short The bare-bones industrial space is coolly outfitted with polished cement floors, plywood tabletops and Nelson Bubble Lamps; the clientele is highbrow and hip. Standout dishes include a sinfully greasy terrine of ham, potato and cheese; a subtly spiced salad of baby French lentils and tender, diced beets and a succulent side of albacore tuna, baked with a sweet saute of fresh tomatoes and soft onions. Diners happily nosh on nibbles like chestnu... read more
