When Cedar Rapids needed hospital beds in 1900, the Sisters of Mercy established Mercy Hospital in a small house on Third Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast. The 15-bed house was soon too small, so the Sisters of Mercy looked for money and a site to build a larger hospital. They went from parish to parish and to nearby towns. Had a great experience I came in unable to breathe wheezing I was seen within 5 minutes of being there the doctor I had had Gregory Taylor in the nurses and respiratory therapist was amazing.. they made me feel at home it was very clean and sanitary I want to thank you guys for giving me great care.. michelle worcester
as a patient the staff was very kind caring and compassionate. I also worked at Mercy for over 10 years, I loved the family friendly atmosphere. If I was still living in Iowa I would still be working at Mercy.
I'm usually a fan, loyal 'customer' as well as referrals.....but SHAME ON YOU!!!! When a 2 year old goes in for a procedure YOU ALLOW MOMMY TO BE THERE with that-said 2 year old til they are under & allow her to be there in recovery when they're waking....SHAME, SHAME on you for allowing an already scared toddler to face it ALONE. Count your lucky stars Gma was babysitting siblings cuz if I was there there would've been hell to pay!! You ain't seen 'bitch' til you witness this Gma.......
Mercy is friendly and professional. Would appreciate it though if the security team was treated with care and respect and given equipment to defend themselves.

Mercy is absoutely amazing. Most all of my doctors are amazing, but out of all my doctors I see Jill Petersen is the absoutely best. She isnt there for a paycheck. She is there because she actually cares about her clients, and loves what she does. I have a hard time trusting people and with her, I do not feel judged or feel like just another client to her. She truly cares. I feel comfortable and safe telling her how I feel and things that I havnt been able to tell other people. She is amazing....and I have spent years hating... read more
I hate this hospital I love st.Luke's they treat you like royalty
I just had my third Baby at Mercy and once again was treated wonderfully. The nursing staff in labor and delivery are amazing and caring.
Top notch care during two recent surgeries. Recommended.
