My granddaughter catered her HOSSA banquet thru you tonight and we paid $16.00 a head for a quarter piece of dried chicken breast, and mashed potatoes and gravy The salad was tolerable and you didn't furnish enough plates for 80 people. Guess you are a dine in place only and catering isn't your in your strong suit. Shame on you for taking advantage of an junior in high school, trying to make a memorable experience! !!. I will never eat at your establishment again!

Shellie, I am very sorry you did not care for our catering, we take a lot of pride in everything we do, and serve thousands of chicken fried chicken and get great comments on them. As for the price we only charge 8.25 a person, I am not sure what the other 7.75 was for. We always send extra plates, if it was self serve a lot of times the plates stick together. My husband and I went to a tasting at Mel's for our wedding and loved the food. Our package included food for 100 people, and when I realized I had 110 RSVP's I contacted both the venue and Mel's THREE TIMES to see if I needed to order more food (which I would have GLADLY done) and was told they usually cook extra just in case. Not only did they run out of food, they ran out of plates and plastic ware. I guess all good things have to come to an end. We had lunch at Mels Country Cafe last Saturday. We have been eating there for about 30 years. They have always been known for good home cooked food, ample portions and reasonable prices. We ordered Mel's cheese burgers and were so disappointed to see that the big, juicy burger of the past is now the size of a Jr. burger at most places. The meat was even smaller than the bun.
