Thank you so much for the fabulous meal today! Hubby and I searched as I was trying to remember your location. A kind man at the gas station on fm 2978 pointed us in the right direction. We enjoyed scrumptious meals - The Fried Shrimp Platter and Catfish and Shrimp. They were huge!!! (the way meals used to be.) Reminded me of when I lived near the beach. Service from greeters to servers were all friendly and warm. We loved it and can't wait to come back and try other meals.
Service was great, no wait when we went and the chicken fried steak and steak fingers were delicious and totally worth the drive. We will be back!

Normally good service. Waitress on this visit was less than attentive to our table. The appetizer was late coming out and we were barely started eating it when the entrees came out. We had to ask for refills on tea, and even that was slow coming. They usually offer us more bread when we run out, but this time we had to ask for more bread. One group at a table near us being served by the same waitress were seated after us, but got their food, ate it, paid their bill and left long before were finished with our meal. If you love country cooking, you will love Mel''s. The portions are more than generous.
The best catfish anywhere. All the food is good and the service is excellent. Try to go as often as possible.....
We order a catered lunch from here every few months or so for work. As any fellow Southerner can attest, this place is perfect Southern comfort food. The banana pudding is life-changing
