About

McSorley's is a Cooper Union landmark that first opened sometime around the Civil War. It is one of the oldest continuously operating bars in the city. McSorley's serves two kinds of beer, McSorley's Lager and McSorley's Cream Stock Ale, and they are served two mugs at a time. Inside, you'll find sawdust on the floor and historic bric-à-brac alongside photos and news clippings. The menu is simple, with appetizers such as hearty cheese plates. Just be sure to keep the pub's centuries-old motto in mind: "Be Good or Be Gone!"

This is a real Irish bar. Not in the sense of taped up paper leprechauns or a tinsel HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY banner, but rather campaign photos of John and Robert Kennedy, as well as other candidates for office going back more than 100 years. It's one of the oldest bars in New York City, and decorated with historical markers, play tickets, political posters and buttons, as well as a painting of a naked lady! Your choices for drinks are light ale or dark ale. They make good sandwiches, too.

Went in for my birthday and FDNY bag pipes were there? Good beer. Good hotdogs great people and bartenders and waiters with attitude in a fun way. When I woke up that morning, didn’t know Id be drinking with people from Holland! Plus locals from NYC And DC. “Best answer from a waiter- Where’s my hotdog?” Answer- “ this is McSorleys. Not McDonalds!” Again. Fun Attidude!

Loved this place. There are only two beer choices: light or dark. Seating was quick as possible. The ambiance of this old school pub feels like it hasn't changed over decades. The mugs are pretty small and each order comes with two of them. Good time guaranteed.

This place is so awesome. Great deals. I'm so amazed about how drunk you can get for this cheap of a price. This is a definitely hidden gem in The Lower East Side. The seating is picnic tables or you can sit at the bar and this place serves food. This place has an old school setting. Tons and tons of black and white photos. Simply put this place is awesome and another hole in the wall gem!
