Dr Schultzel was the surgeon on call when my husband was brought to the ER needing surgery in Nov, ‘18. Dr Schultzel was kind, direct, confident and efficient. He explained what to expect, the risks etc, and came out of the OR to explain the diagnosis after surgery. He spent a lot of time with my husband. He used a nerve block during surgery which helped minimize pain. He used medications carefully. highly recommend him. A young physician who uses most current, least invasIve techniques.
I was referred to Dr. Schultzel by my OBGYN for internal hemorrhoid removal which was a quick surgery with an extremely painful recovery. Dr. S was very professional and clear about the procedure itself and the expectations for recovery. He spent adequate time to insure all my questions were answered during my pre and post op visits. He was very accessible for follow up questions to which he or a member of his staff followed up promptly.
Dr. Schultzel was recommended to me by my internal medicine doctor as someone who was extremely proficient for his expertise with colon and rectal surgery. As a cloacogenic carcinoma survivor this was important to me. Dr. Schultzel is extremely thorough, professional and courteous. I have driven in from out-of-state for surgery and treatment by him. I highly recommend him for his knowledge and conscientious kind demeanor.
Dr. Schultzel took me into surgery 1 week after I was diagnosed with colon cancer the surgery went very well. Dr. Schultzel is a person how tells what he going to do and has a way of putting you at ease about all the procedures. I am very pleased with this Dr. Schultzel before surgery and after for my follow up care.
Dr. Schultzel is fantastic. His bedside manner was excellent, he was informative about everything that was going to take place, both pre and post op. He makes you very comfortable during the most uncomfortable situations. He had a sense of humor about things which makes it so much more pleasant even when your not at your best. There will never be enough positive stars to give this Surgeon. I love this man and will scream his name out at the top of every mountain. “Everyone needs to go to this colon doctor!” Straight up Dr. Matthew Shutitzel saved my life! I suffered from Colocutaneous Fistula which is a very rare complication of colonic and acute diverticular disease. My fistula had a huge E. coli bacteria abscess which was connecting the sigmoid colon with my bladder complicating the diverticulitis. Excellent Surgeon

Dr. Schultzel did a great job with removing my mother's gallbladder when she had an acute infection. She had a speedy recovery and felt very grateful for the non-invasive procedure.
Dr Schultzel is a very professional and caring doctor who gives straight forward information. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs colorectal surgery.
