Specialties We serve Angeleno style Mexican food in a lively atmosphere. We make all of our food and cocktails by hand, with fresh ingredients. We are one of the few restaurants that welcomes large parties. History Established in 2003. We are the antidote all the "big plate" Mexican restaurants in town. And a step up from the taco trucks, with a nice place inside to sit down and enjoy a cocktail with a few friends.

Average food, great margaritas – We live in Silver lake and there are now many terrific restaurants to choose from. I had heard encouraging reports about Malo but was disappointed. The margaritas were good but the food took forever and was extremely average. We spent $100 for the two of us which included three drinks and two entrees. Even the salsa is extra. The atmosphere is bland. Basically nothing to recommend it above any other regular Mexican Mexican restaurant.
Why the attitude?? – I ate here a few months ago and all of the staff had a "better than thou" attitude and the food was average. Last week I went back to give it a second try. I walked in with my friend on Sunday at 7:40pm. Every table was empty except for 2 in the front. So when the host (who acted as if cracking a smile would give her a aneurysm) took us to the one table in the back that is in front of the loud, smelly kitchen/dish washing area we asked for another. food good service bad – Food was tasty with some unique dishes. However service was poor. Our waiter took our orders and did not come back until he gave us the check. he was rude and standoffish. be aware that most dinners are a la carte. The margarita was good but the waiter tried to charge us full price for the special.

Best Beans in Hollywood – Wow I love the Fresh Beans at Malo. They are so super delicious I cannot believe that they are vegetarian. Normally it is hard to get decent vegetarian dishes at a Mexican restaurant but here they have plenty. The Beans, Squash, Corn, Eggplant Tacos and Cheese Enchiladas were all great. I love the tequila selection too. The service at both the bar and dining room was very attentive.
Not worth the hype – Sorry to say but I was very dissappointed in Malo. It's basically over priced average Mexican food. My wife ordered carnitas and the postions were less than satisfying (especially for the price). I ordered tacos that were served cold and bland. I've received better tacos from a truck. Service was average seemed to be rushing us. Overall BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
Malo's BAR – I still can't get over the fact that my sunglasses were stolen in front of me at Malo's bar. I was sitting at the bar and placed them on the top of the counter. There were friends with me at all times. However, when I was leaving, I realized there were not there anymore. The bartenders(2 women) were not particularly helpful about finding them which made them very suspicious. There were other employees who came to clean the counter at different times. Best Margaritas in El Mundo – I came here for the first time about one year ago and fell in love with the bar here. After coming here for a year I started to investigate what they are all about on the internet. This took me to city search and I fell compelled to tell everyone how great Malo is. Love bringing large groups here – There is nothing I love more than getting a table here for large groups to have great chow and killer drinks. Sure it is getting way too popular now, but that just means I have to make a reservation or bring my friends here later in the evening. This is one of the few places in Silverlake that I can bring lots of people to and have a server that can handle it. Everyone is taken care of in their own way and the drinks are always flowing.
