Specialties We serve Angeleno style Mexican food in a lively atmosphere. We make all of our food and cocktails by hand, with fresh ingredients. We are one of the few restaurants that welcomes large parties. History Established in 2003. We are the antidote all the "big plate" Mexican restaurants in town. And a step up from the taco trucks, with a nice place inside to sit down and enjoy a cocktail with a few friends.

potatoe taco appetizer to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – 4 of us ate here for the first time the other night. We all thought that it was great!!! from the margaritas, to the potatoe tacos(unbelievable!!!) to our main courses. Loved the atmosphere, the waitress was great, will definitely recommend, and we can't wait to go back!
Crazy Brunch Goodness – Malo Brunch was the best Mexican Style Breakfast that I have had in a long time. I had the huevos rancheros which were not only the perfect size but had all kinds of crazy flavors going on. I could have sworn that the bottom of the plate had a mini quesadilla. My girl had the French Toast with Mangos and Fried Bananas and this was the all time best french toast in Los Angeles. Our bloody mary's made with tequila were both refreshing and spicy, so crazy good that we had a couple each. Then to finish it... read more
please explain... – like others here, i seriously dont get whats up with their reservation policy... walked in and the place was practically empty... were told they were booked for the night... now i realize that you need to have tables ready but i also know how restaurants run and there is no reason not to seat a few tables when the place is empty no matter how many reservations are looming. can the mgmt please come on here and explain..? ive worked in famous/successful restaurants and we would always find a reasonable bala... read more
Greatest Mexican Casual Dining Experience – After reading the other reviews on citysearch I decided to try out Malo. Obviously I made a reservation since it seems just walking in can give you a bit of a wait. We arrived early and our table wasn't ready yet so we went over to the bar side. (It is behind the red curtain) Once in the bar we had a cucumber margarita and a ginger margarita. Both of these drinks blew us away. Once our table was ready the hostess found us in the bar and sat us. We started with their special salsa o... read more
Bueno food. Malo attitude. – I've eaten at Malo many times. The chicken flautas are delicious, the sangria is great, and the chips and salsas are good (albeit a bit expensive). It's a fun place to eat -- that is if you can make it past the fembot at the hostess stand. No matter if Malo has only 2 vacant tables or only 2 patrons in the entire restaurant, you're likely to be told that they can't seat you if you don't have a reservation. I could understand if I the restaurant was 2/3 full when I arrived and they told me I might... read more
Incredible Salsas – I went to Malo last week for the first time and I must say that upon arrival I saw some amazing salsa flights on a table near the door. Once we were sat our waitress came up to us all smiles, and before she could say a word we wanted salsas and margaritas. The salsas were amazing, the habanero and the pico de gallo were the best. Our margaritas were also amazing and affordable. The entrees were just as great as the salsas. Our Al Pastor and Carne Asada were perfect as was everything else about Malo.
Best Mexican Food – I love this place so much and have been dining here for two years now. Trust me it rocks. From the tequila selection in the bar to the food brought to you in the dining room. You must go there to try the ground beef and pickle tacos with a margarita.
Another irritating LA restaurant – This is one of those places that charges a lot for drinks and atmosphere and doesn't concern themselves with the food or service. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they do have high standards for their food and it's just their chefs that soock. I took my girlfriend here because it was recommended to us by a good friend, and it's in the neighborhood. I'll admit, the atmosphere was nice and the sangria was good, but the praise stops there. Firstly, our waitress was slow and didn't give two sh*ts about u... read more
Really Delicious Food, Great Prices, Service Hit-or-Miss – My first experience here was awful. We arrived without a reservation on a Friday night at 7:15. The place was almost completely empty, except for a couple of tables. The hostess asked "Do you have a reservation?" We said "No." She then said "There's nothing I can do for you tonight" and TURNED AWAY FROM US. We asked her to elaborate and she turned back around, telling us they would be full at 8. We could have easily eaten in that amount of time! Also, we checked Open... read more
