Specialties We serve Angeleno style Mexican food in a lively atmosphere. We make all of our food and cocktails by hand, with fresh ingredients. We are one of the few restaurants that welcomes large parties. History Established in 2003. We are the antidote all the "big plate" Mexican restaurants in town. And a step up from the taco trucks, with a nice place inside to sit down and enjoy a cocktail with a few friends.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere – Loved the food: soy-rizo tacos and mexican corn on the cob (so much better than on the streets). The habanero and creme salsa was amazinggg. Fast service and great atmosphere. Loved it!
Best QUALITY tequila selection in the city!!! and addicting Ground Beef & Pickle Tacos – I am an avid tequila drinker who frequents Los Angeles for work. In the past year and a half that I have been traveling back and forth to LA I have had the opportunity to check out all the great Mexican tequila bars in the city. The one I always go back to is Malo!!! The thing that I love about Malo the most is the QUALITY of their tequila selection and the Ground Beef and Pickle Tacos. Also you need to try the Chewy Chips (just make sur... read more
BRUNCH n'Cocktails – Why someone didn't tell me that Malo had brunch is a complete shame. Who doesn't want to wake up on a Saturday and Sunday am and have tequila and breakfast? (BTW most amazing hangover food place) I fixed my Saturday morning by coming in and having a BLOODY MARIA and Eggs Toastada at 9:45am. Two Words: LIFE SAVING. My friend had the Medicina Latina; a drink with fresh ginger in it and I am kind of sorry I didn't order that. The Paloma Fizz was her second drink and I was even more mad that I didn't order c... read more
STAY AWAY – Went there with my boyfriend one Sunday night a couple of weeks ago and was extremely disappointed with everything in this "so-called" restaurant. Waited a full 15 minutes and NOBODY was there to seat us. Sure there were waitresses inside but there was no host/hostess in sight. And they were not even full!! We then went to the other side of the bar and told the bartender about this and the bartender assured us that somebody will be with us shortly but another FIVE minutes passed and we were still not seated. That... read more
I totally get it now – It took me a while to understand Malo, but I finally figured it out. It is very plain and simple. Great tacos, great margaritas and a friendly (not over bearing) waitstaff. I couldn't figure out if I loved or hated this place at first. Now I love it 100%. The dollar Taco Night is what put me over onto the love side. I cannot get enough of the fried Ground Beef and Pickle tacos.
Best Mexican Brunch in Los Angeles – I have been to Malo a few times and find my self enjoying the food. Brunch on the other hand is one of the best kept secrets it seems. I had no idea they were even open for brunch and I live in the neighborhood. The chiliqueles was in-f'ing-credible!!! I don't even know how to spell it, but I loved it. We were able to walk in with a group of 8 and get a table on the patio right away. Go Malo!!!
Yummy Mexican! – The Monday night taco are fantastic. Why? They are a buck each. On a regular evening, an order comes with three and the order is 6.50. This isn't bad if you are looking for dinner under $10, which is fairly rare in LA when you are talking about good food. Also, margaritas are awesome. Only downfall... no reservations. I suppose that is good and bad. But this place is usually full.
Unbelievable that its this highly rated! – When it opened, this was my favorite restaurant and for the following year or so I was there at least once a week. Gradually though, what was once a friendly and fun place to be turned into one of the most rude and poorly run restaurants in the city. These days, the wait staff are not only incompetent, but seem to be proud of it and one can only guess by their behavior that they are encouraged to treat you as poorly as possible. They ignore you, snap at you, bum cigarettes from your... read more
Excellent! – I love Malo, the atmosphere is hip, the food is great and very inexpensive. Chips and home made salsa are a must! Sometimes it can get a little loud, but other than that I would definitely recommend it.
Malo has a 4 star rating with 293 reviews.
Malo is closed now. It will open tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
