RecommendedWhat a wonderful place to stay on a weekend getaway with friends! The Inn is beautiful and the hosts are so welcoming. Their breakfast was delicious! We also enjoyed the Bloody Marys and Mojitos Malcolm made us at the bar. A little hiking and winery hopping completed our visit. It was a very relaxing weekend.

My son and his wife were married here this weekend. The Inn was a perfect place for the event. Accommodations were wonderful as were the host and hostess of the Inn. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely stay here.
We just spent a relaxing weekend at Makanda Inn. No complaints from us - wonderful accommodations, delicious breakfasts, Malcolm and Lorraine were so welcoming and the perfect hosts and other guests shared lots of local areas for us to visit on our next trip to southern Illinois! We will definitely recommend Makanda Inn to our friends!
This is an incredible building, on beautiful grounds, in a great part of the state. We've stayed here multiple times, & really can't recommend any place else.
The entire stay felt more like visiting family than paying to stay somewhere. I can not think of one bad part of the experience. If you love nature and want to stay where you always feel welcome, this is definitely a good choice.
Had a great time in the indigo cottage last July. Planning on coming back again this upcoming summer! Friday night we had drinks at the bar with Malcolm and Lorraine and they carry Church St Brewery beers which were amazing. Very welcoming and friendly hosts I might add, easy to talk to. Went hiking at little Grand Canyon Saturday for a great start to the day. Planning on seeing y’all soon again!
I can't believe I'm sharing this gem David and I found, want it to ourselves. My life has been invigorated by our stay. The fresh air, the woods, the deck, the patio, the birds pecking, the Woodpeckers you can hear for miles. Malcolm and Loraine treat us like we would be family. To tell you, I've been suffering from my Parkinson's. Insonmia. Not here. I feel energized and loved. Thank you Loraine and Malcolm.
I recently won a photography contest put on by the Shawnee Wine Trail Lodging Association. My prize was two nights in any of their accomodations. I chose Makanda Inn and it was fabulous! It has a scenic location, gracious hosts, and an area with many things to keep you busy!
