Located along the Lockport section of the Erie Canal, this amazing underground boat ride is unique. Using a custom-built flat-bottom boat, visitors go on a half-mile trip through a man-made hydraulic raceway cut out of solid rock, the work of 19th-century genius Birdsill Holly— the man who gave the world the fire hydrant and zoned steam heat. Accompanied by a guide and trained operators, the 1 1/4-hour ride is thrilling and perfectly safe.

I enjoyed the history before the cave tour on the Erie Canal, business that used the canal for energy, and how difficult it was with no electric! Of course the cave was way cool!! Very educational!

What a fantastic time. If you have to decide between the Erie Canal Tour and this one. Pick the Lockport Cave Tour. Teagan was a delightful guide. Funny, knowledgeable, and highly recommended.

How sad when 2 classrooms full of anxious 4 year olds show up with no one in the office!! How do u forget an entire scheduled field trip?!? We were so looking forward to this, and instead had to walk around just looking at the water and leave!!!! Never in all my years of teaching have I had a field trip forgotten. I will never recommend this to another visitor or teacher.
We held and Rochester Institute of Technology alumni event here. Staff and tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Tom and crew did a great job. We recommend visiting Lake Effect Ice Cream after your tour.

Went there for for the Halloween and fall lantern light four and it was so cool. I wasn't kinda bummed because it was raining and I got a little wet in the cave, but it added to the creepiness! The history is so cool and even some of the stories were scary. Loved it! I suggest everyone do this every year at night in the Fall.
