About this business
Located along the Lockport section of the Erie Canal, this amazing underground boat ride is unique. Using a custom-built flat-bottom boat, visitors go on a half-mile trip through a man-made hydraulic raceway cut out of solid rock, the work of 19th-century genius Birdsill Holly— the man who gave the world the fire hydrant and zoned steam heat. Accompanied by a guide and trained operators, the 1 1/4-hour ride is thrilling and perfectly safe.

I loved this tour! I have been on it two other times, but this was the best by far. Mark was enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. And--he walks backward like a real pro! Mark, I'm so sorry we couldn't wait to talk with you after the tour. I wanted to, but we would have been late meeting my sister in Buffalo. I friended you on Facebook. Keep up the fine work! Great tour. I would highly recommend this tour to Girl Scout, Cub Scout, and Boy Scout leaders.
Loved it. Our your guide Mark was very informative. Would recommend. Can't wait to come again after next year 100 anniversary. Their adding more.
Mark did a great job of bringing the lock history and cave tour to life! Will be back for a haunted tour!
Loved this historical tour. Our tour guide Ken was absolutely amazing. I learned a lot from him. For those who don't know, this is a man-made cave used for hydraulic power. It's not a natural-made cave. But it's still a beautiful site to check out.
