Just got back from spending three nights at the Lake House Inn while attending a reunion. Best bang-for-the-buck in the Cooperstown area! The rooms are spotless, the property is beautiful with gorgeous lake views, and enough though it was nearly full, it was extremely quiet and relaxing! Owners are wonderful, friendly and hard-working!I will definitely come back!
Would never stay here. We made reservations for a room at the lodge in December 2017 for the Induction weekend 2018 at Cooperstown and when we called to find out some information, we were informed that we didn’t have a reservation. It seems that Gene (the owner) said that he canceled all reservations supposedly back in December and sent out emails and people got their refunds. Well we didn’t get either, only after we called. This is the casual restaurant in the Lake House resort and it more than meets expectations. I stayed at the affiliated Baseball Hotel and came here for breakfast and lunch during our stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent...as good as any brunch buffet, and the price was very reasonable The lunch was quite good. I had a mushroom burger and my companion enjoyed a Margarita pizza. Hotel room was gross...dirty, it stunk, room would not cool off, dead bugs on the bed, stains on the comforter. We paid $160 for a tiny room and after seeing the room I asked for a refund....he said no, then i asked for a partial refund and he said no. We left and drove to Albany, NY.....wasted $160.00.
Very pleasant friendly staff, excellent full breakfast (I was stuffed both mornings), great rooms in which I slept very well. The Inn is really that, sort of a cross between a b&b and a hotel. Being a historic building from 1843 they only have a few rooms on the ground floor, so book early if you don't like stairs. Beautiful views of Canadarago Lake with boats and kayaks to use at no charge.
We have had 30+ years of fun at the Lake House as I was growing up, coming back year after year for baseball attractions in Cooperstown, but often spending just as much time fishing, swimming, and playing at the Lake House as we do in town. The owners do a fantastic job accommodating our family's visits each summer, and even for those who aren't fanatical about baseball, the chance to relax at a quiet place with picturesque scenery is a welcome retreat.
