Recommended by our concierge, Jimmy G's was within walking distance of our hotel, so we took a chance. Eating at the oyster bar, we were well taken care of by the staff - food and drink were quickly served and we could watch the grill in action.. The local grilled shrimp were really excellent. My colleague reported that their grilled oysters were very good.
North side between IAH and woodlands has good hotels but you need to hunt down the good restaurants. Further north are good spots but if you're in Greenpoint area they're not evident. Jimmy G's is a great find. If you know old neighborhood areas that withstand the time then you'll love this great food and service Houston location. Definitely an oyster bar and great seafood (hello Louisiana ) on the menu. Very friendly service and price is at level of food quality and portion. Any type of group or individual will find them se... read more
The food was delish - cajun kebab, chicken carole, batter chicken and salmon was had. Followed by 3 key lime pies!!! Waiter was great and the beers served in ice cold beer glasses a nice end to a 103*F day.
Garlic bread on every table. Great 4 choice gum is in 3 serving sizes. Waiters seating person is fun and very concerned that you have a good meal. Mugs for drinks are the coldest. All the fish and Cajun options are excellent. The price is fair also. Parking good. Security at night. In house oyster bar.
So, every time I have a flight out of Houston Intercontinental Airport in the morning, I spend the night near the airport and have dinner at Jimmy G's. Moderately priced, I have never had a bad meal here. Their fish is superb. I have had a variety of offerings. Tonight I had the rainbow trout blackened with Jambalaya on the side. Worth coming here for. Great selections . It's definitely worth a visit.
I love this place. The Grilled Oysters are just to die for. The fried fish and shrimp are my go to meals here. Great service at the bar!
This place is amazing. One of the worst things about being on the road is the dearth of good restaurants around airport hotels, so when I saw Jimmy G's on the map I decided to try it out. The experience was worth every penny. It's an unassuming little place that's about good food more than finish, so don't be alarmed if the interior doesn't impress. I've been here a couple times now and everything seems to be made to perfection. I even stay in a nearby hotel when I come to Houston so I can stop by. Jimmy G's is the opposite ... read more
The charbroiled oysters are to die for! This is my wife's first time trying oysters. She got instantly hooked. Can't find anyone that makes them as good as Jimmy G.
I had calamari, Gumbo with prawns, broiled snapper with beans. Authentic, crisp and perfect. Christina is a good hostess and I went with her suggestions. If you are in Houston, you should be here for seafood.
