old reliable – food always good, but eat the fish and leave off the unimpressive veggies (salad will do). Expensive wine list not a great deal.
Destination restaurant! – A destination restaurant! We were visiting from out of town, found the place on citysearch. We showed up with a two year old and had one of the best dining experiences of my life. The staff was even wonderful to the baby,even though it's not a restaurant to bring children. Took the waiter's recommendations for entrees. Fantastic food, superior service. Be sure to have dessert; you can easily split it between several people.
Jake's is the best! – Great food, good service, cool atmosphere, and the chicken salad - oh my god!
horrible – I've been eating at Jake's for the last 10 years and service and quality has diminished considerably. Other acquatices of mine concur and we have all agreed not to visit Jake's again. There are too many other quality places to eat.
Jake's is Great! – While staying at the Governor hote - which is beautiful, we enjoyed a late evening cocktail and dessert. The bartender, Kelly, recognized my British hubby immediately as a "Geordie" and the conversation started from there. The measures of a 12-year old scotch and a Chambord were generous and the Creme Brulee and Chocolat Mousse were the perfect ending to a wonderful day! Bravo Kelly & Jake's!!
yummy – jakes has excellent grilled sherried chicken. and the best mashed potatoes in the world. they also have the best prices to match the food and good staff.
Quintessential PDX, Great Value – Everytime I am in downtown PDX I find myself returning to Jake's Grill for lunch. The lunchtime specials are a screaming good deal and the quality is excellent. Lat visit, I had the Halibut cheeks and they were superb. Jake's has an excellent bar with a great selection of local beers and they also offer a very decent brunch on weekends. I recommend the salmon hash. The restaurant is kid friendly and I think it is a great slice of downtown PDX life!
cows a little small – Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent. The service, eh. Ridiculous to pay for a salad, seems like a main course should come with one. The steak was wonderful, but the size wasn't. For the price it seems like the steak should be a little larger or atleast come with a vegetable to compliment the potato. Just a suggestion. Oh by the way, mashed potatoes were excellent.
Great seafood – This place has great seafood. The window seats have a nice view, especially in the sunny summer months. Service is good, and the menu offers fresh seafood items daily. The price isn't cheap, but it is reasonable for what you get, especially compared to some of the more pricey places around town.
