We live to serve – There bar has fabulous drinks (all fresh squeezed juice) and a staff that makes you feel welcome at all times
Always a Wait! – Steaks are good, but not great. Always a long wait from 1/2 hr to 45 min. Service is not consistent--some good waiters, some that could use some help. Do not eat here on Thanksgiving! Food is terrible, service horrible!!! Hostesses are either not very friendly, or always preoccupied.
Jake's bar-YES, Grill-NO – The crowd seems age 30 or older in this small but lively old piece of Portland. Drinks come fast and furious, staff seems almost too nice! Food is another story.. Consistent but yet again boring. Stick with the happy hour specials if your hungry, and grab yourself a drink on the way to the clubs. Bar sellection is quite impressive, and a little stuffy, but sit outside if you can score a table.
Divine – Jake's Grill is consistanly excellent. Each visit has been a delight. The staff is fun and friendly, the food is exceptional.
Just like home – The people at Jake's Grill are great. I feel like I am at home with how friendly and helpful the service is there. Whether I am coming in for a quick bite or dinner I am alway treated with great hospitality and really great food.
A steak to remember – Although it's been over a year since I have been to Jake's, I can still taste how delicious the steak was. Every steak I have eaten since then has been measured against Jake's and none have matched. I think that I will go this weekend, if only I could remember exactly which one it was??
Not the real Jake's – Good bartenders, lousy cocktail waitresses and so-so food added up to a rather disappointing experience during my visit. Stick to the happy hour bar menu, the $1.95 cheeseburger is a good value and the housemade pickles are wonderful, however, most of the food is rather uninspired and the rest of the staff could take some tips from the bartenders. Good Spot – Stayed at the hotel next door for business and discovered Jake's Grill. Good stiff drinks, pleasant bartenders and very good late night menu. Good atmosphere and a place I'll make sure to visit the next time in Portland.
Best bar in town! – The restaraunt is great, but the Grill shines in the bar. Low key and old fashioned, nice jazz palying overhead. Fun mixed crowd and very laid back. Gino & Kelly are easily the best bartenders in the city. The bar menu is a steal! Great food, super cheap! All this, and cigar & pipe friendly too! One of the best spots to hook up with a few friends.
