Not Good – I go to Jakes at least 2 times a month with friends and the last couple times we have been there the service was terrible, the orders confused, and the silverware and glasses dirty. The biggest complaint was that they served us DIRTY water glasses twice! After request for another set, they came back the same way without an apology. I expect more from this restaurant besides good food, and I think everyone else does as well. I am not going back I prefer McCormick and Schmicks over Jakes ANY day.

Perennial favorite keeps raising the downtown dining bar with winning steak, seafood and lovely, nostalgic decor. – In Short This spot packs plenty of appeal with its distinctively classy, turn-of-the-20th-century look. Think Titanic's dining room with inlaid, mosaic floors, woodwork throughout and stately flatware. Well-heeled, casual diners flock to this jaunt for classic American favorites infused with Northwestern flair. The expansive menu features ample steak varieties, seafood and pasta dishes. Its signature is the fil... read more

Great Service--Average Food – My mom and I went for lunch and the server was great, very personable. As the dining room filled up, he continued to keep track of us and we felt well cared for. The food, however....well it was bland...a bland chicken entree with gnocchi. The chocolate mousse for desert was excellent, as was the strawberry shortcake. Skip the main meal and go for dessert.

Don't waste your money or time! – When entering Jake's Grill you feel very comfortable with the ambience and professionalism if the staff. When you look at the menu, it appears to be good and you look forward toward dining with friends and family. Don't waste your money on the food!!! The bartenders are very professional and knowledgeable, but the execution of the menu is horrible!! Most of the mussels that my wife and I ordered were already dead before they were even cooked (leaving a bad "fishy" smell). The steak was way o... read more

I used to really love Jakes, but haven't been there in quite some time now because the quality has really taken a turn for the worse, both with service and with the food. When I moved here five years ago I used to go there for fried oysters whenever my mother came to town, but since then it has gone from being a unique and intimate fine dining experience to being more mainstream and impersonal. Also, I've had a high instance of non food items appearing in my food (twice in one evening once, and also happened one other time) ... read more

What a restaurant should be – Versatile menu. A staff that clearly does everything they can for you. Food that is succulent and simply prepared. The bar is fun and the drinks fresh squeezed and shaken. Happy hour is incredible. If something goes wrong, just let them know. They will do everything they can to make it up to you

Terrible – We went there for the New Year's Day brunch. You would think of all days they would try to make it really special. It was my wife and two sons, so we had a total of four breakfasts between us, so I can say that it was not just an isolated bad meal. My wife's meal was disgusting....so she could only barely touch it. My oldest son's breakfast was gross, and my youngest son's was not good either. Mine was edible at best, but nothing special at all. A $50 breakfast that was not good....we would have been better off at... read more

Horrible Management – I called Jake's Catering to cater a party for my boss' birthday. I personally had never been to Jake's, but it came highly recommended from some people in my office. I contacted the Catering Manager and it was the worst experience I've ever had. Having worked in the restaurant business for years myself, I know how to plan these events and this was done very unprofessionally. She made decisions without consulting me, and made up the answers to questions she didn't know. It was the worst experience I've e... read more
